Supporting our teams during World Alzheimer’s Month 🤝

As part of World Alzheimer’s Month, we are proud to share The Dementia Handbook with our Home Managers and Dementia Champions across Hamberley Care Homes.

This week, David Moore, our Head of Dementia, presented a copy of the handbook to Fiona Smith, Home Manager at Richmond Manor.

The handbook has been developed as a practical resource to support our teams in delivering compassionate, relationship-centred care for residents living with dementia and their families.

“The most rewarding part of being Dementia Champions is truly seeing and knowing our residents living with dementia for who they really are. We share our knowledge, passion, and skills with colleagues, residents, and families to help create positive change.

As Dementia Champions, it’s our responsibility to be role models, lead by example, and ensure that care is always person-centred. We want the voices and choices of our residents to be heard, and their social, physical, and emotional wellbeing to always come first.” 💜

Through their compassion and dedication, Justyna & Helen help make sure the voices, choices, and wellbeing of residents living with dementia are always at the heart of life at Chawley Grove💫

We kept dry yesterday dodging the the heavy rain with a visit to Flourish in Saltford. Ann, Sue, Anne & Joan absolutely enjoyed being creative with some pottery painting 🎨

Topped off with hot tea cakes & a cup of tea 😊A perfect rainy morning. Anne said she could of stayed all day!

💜 During World Alzheimer’s Month, we’re proud to share that residents and the team at Meryton Place Care Home in Keynsham raised an incredible £730 for the Keynsham & Saltford Dementia Action Alliance.

This fantastic donation will help support people living with dementia in the local community. 💙

We are so excited to announce our upcoming exhibition, ‘I Was There’ (19th–22nd September) – a very special celebration of the incredible moments our residents have witnessed and experienced over the years. 💙

📸 Highlights will include:
• A gallery of our residents’ photos and personal stories
• A 3D map of old Keynsham
• A visit from Bath Radio to record residents sharing their memories

🍷 Launch Event – Friday 19th September
• 11am talk by the Keynsham Historical Society, celebrating the rich history of our town
• Wine & nibbles from 2pm
• 2:30pm Mike Hooper is sharing a slideshow celebrating historical advertising

This promises to be a truly special event, sparking precious memories and bringing our community together.

What a week it has been across our Hamberley homes – full of music, laughter, sunshine, and wonderful memories 💛

🌞 Brookwater House Care Home – Residents enjoyed a magical afternoon with singer Marco, who wowed everyone with Italian classics and a heartfelt rendition of “My Way”.

💃 Charrington Manor Care Home – Simon had everyone moving with a joyful morning of ballroom dancing.

🎶 Cofton Park Manor Care Home – Enjoyed a bank holiday weekend filled with sing-a-longs, cheese & wine, and sunshine in the garden.

🌿 Dorking Manor Care Home – Had a fantastic day trip to Polesden Lacey, where residents explored history, art, and the beautiful gardens.

🏌️ Edwalton Manor Care Home – Residents had a wonderful outing to The Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club, with golf buggies and afternoon tea.

🎨 Meryton Place Care Home – Audrey (celebrating her 100th year! 🌟) joined Clive & Tony on a trip to The Holburne Museum in Bath, enjoying art, history, and delicious cake.

🎉 Nesbit House Care Home – Held a brilliant summer party with live music, cocktails, magic, and delicious food.

🎤 Newton House Care Home – Roland Russell had residents singing, clapping, and dancing with his fantastic live performance.

🦉 Templeton Place Care Home – Residents enjoyed a fascinating Birds of Prey talk, meeting Wilfred the owl, Whispa the baby owl, and London the hawk.

🐴 Upton Manor Care Home – Enjoyed a summer party with a petting farm, Punch & Judy, crafts, stalls, and a sizzling BBQ in the sunshine.

💖 Thank you to our wonderful teams, entertainers, and communities who make weeks like this so special for our residents. Here’s to many more joyful moments together!

This weeks trip Audrey, Clive & Tony enjoyed an afternoon visiting The Holburne with its impressive collection of fine and decorative art, in their Museum, with Garden Cafe where we enjoyed a selection delicious cakes & cup of tea ,situated in lovely grounds in Bath.

What a wonderful evening at Brookwater House Care Home celebrating the incredible volunteers from the Nightingale Cancer Support Centre 💙

We’re so proud to have hosted such a special night filled with delicious food from our talented Hamberley chefs, 80s music, laughter, dancing – and of course, the famous conga line! 🎶

🌟This week Mary, Joyce, Sue & Millie had a fantastic day Stepping back in time boarding Brunel’s SS Great Britain. Discover the true stories behind the ship that changed the world. Experiencing the sights, sounds and smells of life on board for Victorian passengers and crew. There was so much to see & do and we had great fun dressing up🌟

Millie enjoyed Showing us her home where she had once lived on The Hot Wells Rd in Bristol with her family and telling us stories of when she had lived there ,bringing back lovely Memories for Millie.

🚂✨ All Aboard the Intercontinental Express at Cofton Park Manor! ✨🚂

Last week, our care home Cofton Park Manor in Cofton Hackett took residents, families, and the local community on an unforgettable journey around the world – all without leaving the home! 🌍

From Italy’s rich flavours and Mexico’s vibrant fiesta, to the sunshine spirit of Greece, the electric energy of Ibiza (complete with a neon rave 🪩🎶), and finally Sweden – each day was packed with themed food, live entertainment, and cultural activities.

They even had their very own train conductor checking passports as guests boarded for each destination – adding to the fun and sense of adventure! 🚉✈️

The atmosphere was filled with laughter, music, dancing, and connection – a perfect reminder that life doesn’t stop when you move into a care home; it’s just the start of a new chapter filled with amazing experiences. 💙

A huge thank you to the incredible Cofton Park Manor team for hosting such a creative, joy-filled week – right down to the tiny details that made it feel like a true holiday for our residents.

What a Perrrrfect.... Morning we had last week Dave & his lovely wife Paula brought along their beautiful show cats to meet our residents. Rocky the Maine C**n has won 4 x 1st rosettes. Mickey ,Murphy & Teddy have won many Olympian grand master cat events. Residents, staff & visitors enjoyed cuddles around the home. 🐈🐈‍⬛🐾🐾

Thank you again to our Home Maker Dave for coming along bring lots of smiles to everyone it was a real treat 💙🩵💚

Such a joy surprising our local chosen charity to present an amount of money to. We are very proud to have raised over seven hundred pounds this year for Keynsham & Saltford Dementia Action Alliance ( K&SDAA). The funds raised will support local families attending their ‘Music for Mind’ group sessions alongside trips, attending events and festivals, we also share thanks to all the local businesses who supported such a charity by kindly donated raffle prizes

This week with Myley. Martin,Lynn,Joyce,Gwen & Rosemary enjoyed a morning drive out to Chew valley Lake taking in the stunning views of the countryside. some families members came along to enjoy time with there mum and love ones.

We relaxed with coffee & cream teas & a selection of cakes in the Salt & Malt restaurant

Fantastic Hawaiian Hula dancing with the lovely Lauren from Flourish Dance 💃🏖🏝 we had beached themed Caribbean session getting everyone in the mood for dancing ,lots of great exercise moves , swimming, beachball, bubbles and lots of flowers 🌸🌺🌼Families are enjoying joining in the fun here at Meryton.
