Mental Health Awareness week starts tomorrow, and this year the theme is . Whatever exercise you do - from stretching, dancing in your kitchen to team sports and martial arts - benefits your mental health as well as your physical health. And it releases the endorphins which make us feel happier. 😊
The Mental Health Foundation have loads of great ideas to get you moving and even a playlist 🎧 to help you on your way, so take a look at their page for inspo!
I'll be doing lots of stretching this week so that I land well from my Skydive for the Mental Health Foundation 😉
Take care and enjoy moving!

Mental Health Awareness Week starts on Monday (13-19 May)! Are you planning to get involved? Let us know what you're doing! 💬

This year, the theme is movement: moving more for our mental health. We chose to focus on movement because we know that while it can bring many mental health benefits, many of us struggle to get moving every day.

So, during the week, we hope that you'll join us in finding moments for movement - ones that work for you - and enjoy the mental health benefits that movement offers. 💜

This is a repost from and I couldn’t say any of this better myself. Christmas can be a challenging and painful time for some and a time when it feels like there are so many expectations of us, and the season.

But everyone has something going on, so let’s look out for those around us, and cut ourselves some slack too.

Children aged 9-13 in mainstream schools in B&NES who struggle with anxiety can join a free 3-day holiday course to help them express themselves through music🎵
It's on Dec 19-21 at Oldfield Park Infant School in Bath.

This beautiful boy was on the bus on my way into work this morning. 😍😍 He was so gentle and friendly and came to visit all of us near him to say good morning. We were all smiling away, chatting to him and also to each other. We joked that every bus should have a therapy dog!

Pets are such good companions and this handsome boy had is us connecting, not just with him, but also with each other. It was so much nicer than sitting there not making eye contact, let alone saying hello!

A sense of emotional connection boosts our mood and sense of wellbeing in lots of ways - I know I arrived at school feeling relaxed, happy and ready to take the day on! 😊

Memory jars are a way to remember important things about someone who has died. The different colours represent different memories - the top part of this jar is colourful as the person who died loved colour! One of the young people I work with lost their Mum recently and we’ve been talking lots about their memories of her. They also decorated a jar with a (safe, battery operated) tea-light in it to bring a bit of light when they feel sad. Aren’t these beautiful? And you could make these, whatever your age.

I talk to everyone I work with about self-care because how we look after ourselves can make a real difference to our mental health.
Self-care is different for all of us, and changes throughout our lives. But, by and large, having things to do that we enjoy (including exercise), enough sleep, good food, time to relax and connection with people who really get us, can really help us cope with the other stuff life throws at us.
I love being outside in nature but especially love being by the sea. I’ve just got back from my self-care weekend by the coast - what have you got planned for your self-care?
