LOWER BACK REHAB!!!

This is a brilliant exercise to really stretch and strengthen the quadratus lumborum.

The quadratus lumborum muscle, a deep muscle in the lower back, plays a crucial role in spine stabilization, lateral flexion (side bending), and assists with breathing (forced expiration) by fixing the 12th rib.

Spine Stabilization:
The QL helps maintain the stability of the spine, especially during movements, and when maintaining an upright posture.

Lateral Flexion (Side Bending):
When one side of the QL contracts, it causes the trunk to bend towards that side.

These muscles can often become weak and/or short during our daily lives and can contribute to pain in our lower back.

This strengthening exercise will not only help strengthen the QL mus le but also stretch the entire upper body. It is important that you keep the weight low and during the moment keep your body straight with no rotation throughout. ( You can do this exercise with a band ).

I have been working with Adam for about a year. I wish to congratulate him on his achievement for 1st place in the UKDFBA.

It's been incredible working with you to achieve this life-long goal!

As a sports physio, I work with numerous athletes to help them achieve their goals, whether this is through injury prevention or rehabilitation. Whilst working through fine-tuning their movement mechanics to achieve peak performance!

HIP STRENGTH & MOBILITY

Having good hip strength and mobility is critical to not only performance based athletes but also daily life. Having good hip function during movement can help prevent lower back pain(Stiff and imobile hips may limit spinal movement). Improve athletic performance and stabalize your joints. Later in life, this will be of great benefit to bone health!!

The biggest limitation I see in the clinic is hip internal rotation. Here are a couple of super simple exercises that can help with both strength and mobility in your hips.

This, although one of the most scariest moments of my life, was actually also the proudest, happiest, and most incredibly special moment I will ever have to experience. Grace has shown me a love that is unexplainable to the human mind but somehow completely instinctive. Many people worldwide have great difficulty with mobility, which could be down to osteoarthritis, muscle strains, tears, post surgery, and pregnancy. A simple task such as putting a sock on can become a challenge. Therefore, I have provided a simple answer with a home essential, which is in every household to help with this task.
