By popular demand, our pop-up pub The Tipsy Gentleman returned today! 🍻

Our residents enjoyed a perfect Friday afternoon filled with drinks, games, tasty snacks and most importantly, plenty of laughter together. It was lovely to see everyone relaxing, socialising and making the most of the pub atmosphere right here at Westley Court.

We had such a lovely moment with Margaret recently while watching Swan Lake together on the television. 🩰

Margaret used to be a ballet dancer, and as the music played you could see her memories come flooding back — she began gently lifting her arms and moving along with the performance, just as she would have done years ago. It was truly special to watch and brought such a big smile to her face.

A beautiful reminder of how music and movement can reconnect us with treasured memories and moments from our past. 💛

This month’s Capeless Crusaders have been chosen by our Manager and Deputy Manager — and the honour goes to Karen, one of our wonderful nurses, and Lisa, one of our fantastic carers! 💜

Karen and Lisa are both such valued members of the Westley Court family. Their kindness, dedication and support for our residents never go unnoticed. They always go the extra mile to make sure those in our care feel safe, comfortable and truly at home.

Thank you both for everything you do each day — you really are stars without capes! ⭐

Doris the Duck update! 🦆💜

You might remember Doris making her nest in our courtyard… well her ducklings have now hatched!

Doris even brought her fluffy little family into our lounge, where residents loved watching them waddle around. They made themselves very comfortable around one resident’s wheelchair while he watched the morning TV — it was such a lovely moment for everyone to see.

We’ve had a very special visitor make herself at home in our courtyard! 🦆

Our residents have named her Doris Duck, Doris Duck is all settled in her nest ready to lay her eggs! It’s been such a lovely surprise for everyone and Doris has already brought lots of smiles and conversation throughout the home.

We’ll be keeping a gentle watch from a distance and will share any updates with you all if there are any exciting developments 💜

Reuse, Reduce & Recycle ♻️💚

We recently held a lovely sustainability workshop at Westley Court with Lucy, our Sustainability Champion 🌍

Staff and residents came together to share ideas and simple changes we can all make to help look after our environment 🌱

Some of the great ideas included:
♻️ Introducing recycling boxes in our kitchenette
💡 Turning lights off when not in use
🔌 Switching things off instead of leaving them on standby
🌡️ Adjusting the heating on warmer days
📝 Laminating posters and activity sheets so they can be reused
🧽 Using stronger cleaning cloths that can be washed and reused
💻 Making sure computers are fully shut down at the end of the day

It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, sharing ideas and working together to make a difference 💚

Every small change counts, and we’re proud to be doing our bit here at Westley Court 🌍✨
