Wolverhampton Council has decided to charge 20% more for wider burial plots at Danescourt Cemetery.

Our Managing Director Ross Hickton has been on BBC News to give a statement, saying this risks unfairly penalising families at one of the most difficult times in their lives. Loved ones should not face extra financial burden simply because of a person’s size.

As an independent, family-run funeral director, we believe compassion and dignity should always come first. Families deserve to have their voices heard in decisions like this, yet this change was made without public consultation.

In October 2023 Ross Hickton had the opportunity to give evidence to the Fuller Inquiry in person in Manchester. Today, we welcome the publication of the report and its recommendations, which mark an important step forward for our sector.
We are grateful to have contributed to this vital work and look forward to the recommendations becoming part of a statutory regulatory model for the UK funeral sector.

The family are sad to announce the passing of

Sandra Elizabeth Taylor, Late of Kidderminster.

Sandra passed away peacefully on the 21st June 2025, aged 75 years.

A Celebration of Sandra's colourful life and achievements will take place on Friday 11th July 2025, 4.30pm at Wyre Forest Crematorium.

Laraine Lesley Maguire, Late of Kidderminster.

Laraine passed away peacefully on the 24th May 2025, aged 76 years,
surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Laraine's life will take place on Friday 4th July 2025, 10:15am
at Saint Ambrose's Roman Catholic Church, Kidderminster DY10 2BY.
Followed by committal, 11.30am at Wyre Forest Crematorium.

The family have requested that due to Laraine's colourful outlook on life,
please reflect this on what you wear in attendance.
