Love this explanation of our upstairs and downstairs brain….

When a child’s upstairs brain (the thinking, reasoning part) is online, they can plan, problem-solve and make good choices.
When they’re in their downstairs brain (the survival part), logic goes out the window — they act on impulse, not intention.

Understanding this helps us respond with calm and connection, not punishment.

A great day in London chatting all things feeding and SEND…

Lucy Lucy Bates Children's Occupational Therapist and Charlotte Charlotte Sireshuk Children's Speech and Language Therapy went down to the TES SEND show in London today to chat all things Eating as Learning Curriculum. They met so many people who were really interested in training opportunities and implementing the curriculum into their schools. Watch this space for the next dates for our courses in 2026!

A crazy busy week but so worth it to be able to deliver this package into lots of schools across the country. Please get in touch if you would be interested in this amazing curriculum for your setting…

A very busy week here at The Feeding Trust launching our Eating as Learning curriculum package across the UK.

This week has seen over 700 education professionals being trained in how to support children with feeding differences in their settings. This is a really exciting start for these schools now going off to implement the Eating as Learning curriculum into their schools over the next 12 months.

We can’t wait to see the progress they are making in their ongoing mentoring sessions.

Thank you to Birmingham Food Legends and Tesco Stronger Starts for funding this project.

If you would like to find out how your setting could further support children with feeding differences we would love to hear from you. Drop us a message or email lucy@feedingtrust.org for more information on how you can get involved and make a real change.
