A huge congratulations to Roxy, our wonderful Front of House, who has achieved her Advanced Diploma in Business Administration Level 7. Your dedication, professionalism and commitment to growth shine through every day.

And a big well done to Michelle, our brilliant Lifestyle Coordinator, who has now officially passed her Love 2 Move qualification. Michelle has been delivering these uplifting sessions to our residents for several months, and we’re delighted that she can now bring these wellbeing exercise classes to the wider community too.

We are incredibly proud of both of you — your passion and hard work make Brook Court an even brighter place to live and work. 💛

🧩 Scrabble tiles clicking, Triominos pieces shuffling, and plenty of friendly competition filled the room.
There were proud smiles over triple-word scores, playful debates about whether a word really counts, and lots of laughter as strategies unfolded.

These games aren’t just pastimes — they spark conversation, confidence, and connection. Watching residents encourage one another, share stories, and celebrate each small victory was a reminder of how meaningful these simple moments can be.

What a joy it is to give a huge shout‑out to our lovely singer, Debbie Miles🎤💛

For over eight years, Debbie has been filling Brook Court with music, laughter, and the kind of warmth that lingers long after the last note fades. She visits us every month, and always makes our special occasions—like Halloween and Christmas—extra magical.

Our residents absolutely adore her, and so do we. Thank you, Debbie, for sharing your beautiful voice and your beautiful heart with us. Here’s to many more years of music together! 🎶✨

Meet the Team - Staff Spotlight ✨

Home Manager- Shirley Summerbell

“I started my career as a Peripatetic Home Manager, working across the UK, making sure care homes met regulators standards.

I joined Care UK in 2016 because I felt it would be a supportive and rewarding company to a be a part of and I was correct.

I’ve seen the high standard of care for residents and great teams. Everyone is very committed to ensuring that every resident is happy and cared for. There’s always a lot to do in my role, but by far my most favourite part of the day is when I walk around the home, checking everything is okay, and chatting to residents, relatives and my team.

I enjoy getting to know the residents and welcoming new people into the home.”

You’ll find Shirley in the first ground floor office, located just off The Railway Bistro.

🌼 Spring has officially arrived at Brook Court, and St David’s Day brought the perfect excuse to celebrate it!

Yesterday our residents enjoyed the first signs of the season—bright daffodils, fresh air in the garden, and plenty of cheerful conversation. There’s something special about watching the home come alive with colour again, and our Welsh residents were especially delighted to see their national flower in full bloom.

Here’s to longer days, warmer sunshine, and many more springtime smiles ahead. 💛🌱
