Finally been sorting the website which will be live soon, to share all the services on offer, along with my new blog!

I’ve been thinking about the kinds of questions that sit quietly in people — the ones that don’t always get asked out loud.
If there’s something you’ve wondered about therapy, trauma, emotional regulation, relationships, or healing… I’m opening space to explore those themes in future blog posts.

You’re welcome to drop a comment below 👇🏻 or PM me. Anonymous curiosity is welcome too.

I can not stress (there's a pun here I think!) enough, how important it is to move your body!

We live in a fast paced, lack of patience world, having to be on time and dividing ourselves in several different ways because ...society, media, environment, history etc.

So the majority of us are walking around with the 'dripping tap of cortisol' (stress hormone) that is consistently in your body. This in the long term causes chronic stress. Some of us may know this is the case others may not be aware until you begin to become more self aware.

Stress impacts EVERY part of your body. Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Muscles, Digestion... EVERYWHERE. Now just as if you have a leaky tap at home and you neglect to contact a plumber or perhaps you don't even notice at all - in the future its going to cause a big problem. This is how stress works. It floods your system and reduces immunity, it takes over and can weaken other areas. Just as water damage in your house can seep into walls causing structural issues.

What do we do if we have a leaky tap!? We get it fixed! So we MUST learn to do this with our own bodies.

1) Notice when you're stressed, worried or angry (all apart of the same system in your body) ~ start journaling self awareness is built from this.

2) Move your body ~ you don't have to go to the gym for hours, just move your body in a way that works for you. Plus the outdoors and your living room are free so no financial burden to bear. Walk, Yoga, Stretching, Workout. The best way to train your brain to do it - start small 2minutes then build on it.

3) Don't think, just do. Sometimes our brains are so complex that we overthink, constantly creating excuses. We get in our own way of progress. Sometimes we have to choose to just do it.

4) Trust Your Instincts Not Your Fears ~ this one takes really listening to yourself, your intuition and your body. We walk around not paying attention because our minds are in the future or the past. Start being here now, learn your body, where is your tension held? What do you need to do to release it? Journalling helps with this awareness too.

Moral of the story... Move Your Body.

...and my next client is clearly ready 😆❤️

He's either incredibly relaxed and sleepy or feeling glum ~ probably better take him for walk.

This is my therapy sidekick from time to time. Just to clarify he is not trained in therapy as a therapy dog, he is just my dog but he does enjoy imposing on people's personal space for laps, strokes and fuss!

Animals and dog therapy is a real thing, they can help calm us and regulate us just by offering them what helps them to calm and soothe. Offer us joy, and combat loneliness especially when we're struggling.

It's often difficult to talk about because of the pain we experience and the emptiness we might feel from the loss. We may talk about people that have gone but we don't talk about grief itself.

A process that can be experienced for months if not years. A significant experience that can impact us emotionally, physically, mentally and even spiritually.

I met grief again recently, we acknowledged each other as if we were old friends. I often find grief difficult to work with. It's something we all experience at some point in our lives, yet there's often an avoidance through fear or we just 'get on with it'.

This time however, I've allowed myself to be open to the process of grieving. A natural phenomenon of my mind and body working through what it needs to in order to seek some greater wisdom. Wisdom of what I'm unsure yet. Perhaps to do with life and death and what's next? Perhaps, to understand truly what is important. I as many of us do get bogged down by life's pressures, the rush of getting to places quickly, constantly on a merry go round of life that never stops and we forget to step off. We must get off every so often. To appreciate the ride for what it is, the beauty of life and the world as it turns. A wisdom you can only truly explore when we stop to observe rather than flow with the traffic.

I think that this is something grief particularly allows us to do if we are open to it. It allows us to slow down, sit down with an old friend on a bench and observe all that lies in front of us for what it truly is.

So how can we help ourselves nurture this process...
Connect with those around us.
Slow down and give ourselves time to think and feel.
Back to basics ~ Sleep well, eat well, move your body. You dont have to do anything strenuous just getting the basics right can help offer your mind and body the care it needs now.
