Sports Massage

Sports massage is a treatment of the soft tissues in the body, including muscles, tendons and ligaments. Minor injuries, aches and pain can affect someone’s occupation, their ability to undertake sporting activities and their lifestyle. If not treated, minor problems can develop into more serious injuries. Sport Massage can reduce pain and discomfort, and reduce the risks of encoun

tering further problems. Dry Needling Therapy

Dry needling (sometimes described as medical acupuncture) is a very sucessful treatment, which uses very fine needles without any medication (a dry needle) to achieve its aim. Dry needling is used to treat pain and dysfunction caused by muscle problems. It is not like the Acupuncture used in chinese medicine. There is a clear scientific understanding of dry needling. Dry needling works by changing the way your body senses pain (neurological effects) and by helping the body heal stubborn muscle spasm accossicated with trigger points (myofascial effects). There are also electrical and chemical changes associated with dry needling therapy, which assists in the healing process.

What a weekend in Isle of Wight! My first Ultra Marathon. Picked up a small injury about 8 weeks ago in my calf. The result of a few things, too much too soon, not recovering properly, and getting inconsistent with my strength training. So, had to adapt… I completed the event by doing walk/run, and reevaluating expectations. The support crew really helped too ☺️

Beautiful route along coastal paths and woodland. Weather was perfect! Grateful to Richard and Michelle Jones for all the tips and advice.

#4 Stretch the soft tissues

Wrap your opposite hand around the wrist and grasp tightly, pulling the skin towards the elbow. Make a fist and perform slow rotations and feel the hand and wrist tissues pull and stretch. It should feel nice! Don’t force it.

#3 Shoulder circles over wrists.
Start with small circular movements and increase depending on tolerance. 3-5 each way. Don’t push into pinching or discomfort.

#2 Wrist flexion

Press into pads of fingers and get light in the wrists. Lift the wrists any amount, try not to stress the finger joints. Sitting further back in the hips will make this more manageable, or more forwards in the hips and shoulders will add intensity. Feel the inside forearms and muscles in hands working.
