A little bit about diabetes and podiatry this week 💜
Foot ulcers 😢
A diabetic foot ulcer is an open wound or sore on the skin that is slow to heal. These are very common in people with diabetic polyneuropathy.
If you have numbness in your feet, it can be very easy to accidentally cut your foot by stepping on something sharp without even realising. Ulcers can also develop from something as simple as badly fitting shoes causing pressure or blisters.
Please don’t leave this untreated. Early intervention is so important, especially for diabetic patients.
And please, avoid trying home remedies as this can often make the damage much worse.
Let a professional like me take care of this for you 🤍
