Stolen moped and motor bike recovered by Killamarsh Safer Neighbourhood Team.

* Reports of moped on Baker Park, Killamarsh. Patrols conducted and with assistance from a member of the public a moped was located hidden in the bushes surrounding the park.

Further checks show it to have been stolen.

One less bike to be ridden around antisocially.

* Reports of motor bike off Rectory Road, Killamarsh, Further checks show it to have been stolen.

Safety tips to keep your motorbike or moped safe:
* Remove the keys.
* Lock your bike.
* Never rely on just using your steering lock to secure your bike.
* Fitting an alarm can be a deterrent to thieves.
* Using a disc lock helps to secure the front brake disc to physically stop it from being wheeled away.
* Use a grip lock to secure the brake and throttle controls. Sold Secure approved.
* Use a cover just doing this can mean thieves don’t ‘see’ it.
Thieves often ‘shop’ for particular bike models, so using a bike cover instantly makes it less attractive to them, as they can’t see if it’s the model they are interested in. A cover also provides another time consuming obstacle for the thief.
* Property mark the parts.
* When at home the best place to keep your motorbike, moped or scooter is in your garage or shed. Fit a garage door defender or upgrade garage door locks.
* Garage and shed alarms as well as low level dusk to dawn lighting will also enhance security. Fitting a ground anchor also provides extra security.

Many that are stolen are never recovered. Some are used in crime or broken down for parts.
If your bike is stolen - Never put yourself at risk

Don’t make it easy for thieves

👮‍♂️ Electric Scooters 👮‍♂️

We understand that buying an e-scooter can be tempting, especially as you can get them from many popular retailers.

However the current law is clear, You can buy one, but you CAN'T ride it on a UK public road, cycle path or pavement. The ONLY place an e-scooter can be used is on private land.

Why is this?

E-scooters are classified as Personal Light Electric Vehicles (PLEVs), so they are treated as motor vehicles and subject to the same legal requirements, such as: MOT, Licensing, Tax and Insurance.

What happens if I am stopped by Police?

Section 165A of the Road Traffic Act 1988, allows the Police to seize any motor vehicle being used on a road which does not have the required documentation, which includes a driving licence for that class of vehicle. Once seized by the Police it can be disposed of in accordance with force policy. The rider of the E-Scooter will also be liable for prosecution which can result in a fine, points on a driving licence or both. Section 59 of the police reform act allows police to issue a warning if a vehicle is being used in a manner which may cause alarm, distress or annoyance. Being issued with this warning does not stop the e-scooter being seized. Police can seize any private scooter with the likelihood the E-scooter will be disposed of accordingly if they are being used on a public road or footpath and the rider may also be liable for prosecution for traffic offences.

👮‍♂️ Electric bikes and rules for riding them 👮‍♂️

You can ride an electric bike, or an 'electrically assisted pedal cycle' (EAPC), without a license or insurance if you're 14 or over.

An electric bike:

Must have pedals that you can use to propel it can have more than two wheels, for example a tricycle must have an electric motor that can run continuously at a maximum power of no more than 250 watts. It must have no electrical assistance once you reach 15.5 miles per hour (mph)
If your electric bike fails to meet any of these requirements it needs to be taxed and insured as either a motorcycle or a moped.

👮‍♂️ Foot Patrols in Eckington & Ridgeway - Off Road Motorbikes🚶🏽‍♀️

PCSO Rawson and PCSO Furmidge have been out on foot patrol in the Eckington and Ridgeway area, focusing on Eckington Secondary School, Eckington woods and the Never Fear Dam area following reports of off-road motorbikes.

We have received a number of complaints from local residents regarding off-road motorbikes in these locations. As a result, we are currently working on setting up joint operations with our Off-Road Motorbike Team and South Yorkshire Police’s Off-Road Motorbike Team to tackle the issue.

These patrols are part of our ongoing efforts to detect and prevent crime, provide reassurance to the community, and address the concerns raised by residents.

If you have any information or concerns about off-road motorbike activity in the area, please continue to report it to us.

🌻 Happy International Women’s Day🌻

Today, we celebrate the incredible women within our policing family – officers, PCSOs, staff and volunteers – whose dedication, strength and compassion make a real difference in our communities every single day.
From supporting vulnerable people, to problem-solving in our neighbourhoods, to leading teams and driving change across the force, the women in policing continue to show courage, professionalism and passion in everything they do.
We also want to recognise and thank our male colleagues for their continued support, allyship and commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Policing is strongest when we stand together.
To all the women serving today – and to those who paved the way – thank you for everything you do!

📢A message from your local Inspector 📢

Hello, I’m Inspector Matthew Brown, and I am proud to serve as the Local Policing Inspector for North East Derbyshire and Bolsover, supporting the wide and diverse communities that make up our area.

My 17‑year policing career across two forces has been consistently operational and front‑facing, and I have previously worked within this locality. This experience has given me a strong understanding of our communities, their needs, and the challenges we face together.

I have recently returned to the area following a central secondment, where I supported work on the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee and preparations for the upcoming increase in Neighbourhood Police Officers across the country. This uplift will be felt in our communities imminently, and I am committed to ensuring these programmes are delivered effectively, with the public placed firmly at the centre of our priorities.
To see the current policing priorities for your area, as well as information on how and where you can meet your local policing team, please visit:

👉 North East | Derbyshire Constabulary- North East | Derbyshire Constabulary
We also invite you to help shape future local priorities by completing the Community Voice survey:

👉 Community Voice – Derbyshire Alert- Community Voice - Derbyshire Alert

Your feedback is invaluable and plays a key role in informing and renewing our neighbourhood policing priorities.

Throughout 2026, I look forward to keeping you updated on the work we are doing locally and how we are addressing the issues that matter most to you and your community.

Yellow zig-zag lines outside schools indicate the length of road where stopping or waiting is strictly prohibited the reason for this is to keep children and families safe.

Tactile paving consists of a pattern of raised surface, this can be dots, bars, or lozenge bumps to warn people with sight loss of any dangers or obstacles they may be approaching, such as a crossing or steps and must not be obstructed at any time.

Yellow lines are used in areas where vehicles are not allowed to park up and wait or load and mean the following:
Double yellow lines parallel to the kerb - no waiting at any time.
A single yellow line parallel to the kerb - waiting is not allowed at certain times, as shown on a nearby sign.

Time limit parking signs are vehicle parking information times used for the purpose of controlling in car parks and parking spaces to let drivers know they have a limited number of hours and minutes to park their vehicle.

You must not park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines. You must not overtake the moving vehicle nearest the crossing or the vehicle nearest the crossing which has stopped to give way to pedestrians.

PCSO Furmidge & PCSO Dixon have had a busy shift today,

🚨 It started off with hi visibility patrols, this is important to check our areas that have been affected by anti-social behaviour on the previous night and any other areas of concern. This was both in Killamarsh and the Eckington areas.

🚨 First official stop was at St Peters & St Pauls Church at Eckington for the coffee morning (and before anyone asks, one of the officers doesn't even like hot drinks, and they didn't supply the donuts 😀)

🚨 Then it was off to Ebenezer Gospel Hall for there coffee event, it was great to see so many smiling faces, it also helped that the sunshine made an appearance! ☀️

🚨 From there, in the afternoon they went to the Warm Space at St Giles Church Hall, this is running until the 24th March. The officers received a 'warm' welcome. (see what we did there?) This is a great initiative where locals can go for hot drinks and some lovely treats!

🚨 It was really good to engage and speak with so many people; both officers are on throughout the week so let's see what the shifts will bring! 😁

🚓We get lots of invites to events like these and they are part of our regular drop in's if our shifts allow. It is lovely to get out into our community and meet lots of people, if you have any events, you would like us to attend for crime prevention advice or any help at all, don't hesitate to get in touch with us. 🚓
