Why Menopause Massage….

Menopause (and perimenopause) can feel like our bodies are constantly changing the rules. Hormones shift, sleep is affected, energy dips, and emotions feel all over the place.

This treatment is way more than a relaxation massage. It’s a blend of massage techniques, pressure point work, and assisted stretching designed to help the body settle, reset, and restore balance.

It works by calming the nervous system, releasing built up stress and tension caused by hormonal changes and it encourage the body to feel more connected and regulated

Unlike a typical Swedish or Reiki session, this approach often leaves you feeling calm but also energised, rather than sleepy.

I experienced this treatment myself today and honestly I got so much more than I expected.

If I’m honest, this week hasn’t been my best. I’m in my luteal phase and still trying to find balance with my new HRT. My anxiety has been through the roof, I’ve felt irritable, my sleep has been poor (which then makes everything else worse), my hands have been freezing and don’t even get me started on the night sweats. 😂

After receiving this massage today, I genuinely feel like I have more energy and I’m in a much better mood, overall, I feel calmer. My hands are still freezing… 🥶 and the sleep… well, we’ll see tonight!

But already, I can say I got far more from this than even imagined.

Swedish Massage - Before & After

This before and after shows how posture and fluid retention can influence how the shoulder area looks and feels.

In the before image:
🔴 Forward/rounded shoulder posture causing the muscles around the shoulders to tighten and compress.
🔴Mild fluid retention in the tissue was contributing to a softer, less defined appearance around the shoulder blade area.

After the session:
💚 Swedish massage techniques support circulation and lymphatic flow, which can help reduce temporary fluid buildup.
💚The surrounding muscles relaxed, allowing the shoulders to settle into a natural resting position.
💚 With less tension and reduced tissue congestion, the outline of the scapula (shoulder blade) appears more visible.

I’ve noticed in clinic, that my weeks seem to have a theme.

This week it’s been new love. I suppose that makes a bit of sense a February is the month of love. ❤️

And what’s come up in conversations is how different safe, steady love can feel.

When you’re used to difficult relationships, your body and your mind can struggle to relax when something is steady. It almost on edge waiting for it to go wrong, waiting for the chaos.

But it doesn’t.

When there’s no mixed signals. No emotional manipulation or highs and lows. No feeling like you have to earn your place, or walk on eggshells. Sometimes that can feel more exposing and scary than the chaos ever did.

When if there’s nothing to fight against… you have to let yourself receive love.

You have to be seen without armour.
Chosen without performing.
Loved without proving.

And that can feel scary and vulnerable in a whole new way.

Your nervous system can take time to adjust to something it hasn’t experienced before as it learns that love doesn’t have to be fought for or survived….. It can just be steady, safe and consistent without expectation.

You are loved
You are worthy
You are enough

Accept it and enjoy it.

Physical pain isn’t always just physical.

Sometimes our bodies hold onto stress, overwhelm, and past trauma or experiences long after we believe we have moved on from it.. Your muscles tense and tighten. The nervous system stays on high alert. Over time, that shows up as ongoing tension or persistent pain.

This is why my approach is fully holistic, supporting your mind, body and soul together.

Through Mindset work, KCR, Massage and Reiki, we gently explore what the body may be holding onto and create space for old patterns and stored tension to release in a safe, supported way.

Wired but tired 😴

When your body feels exhausted…
but your mind is buzzing ready to sort all life’s problems 🤯

This is currently my most heightened perimenopause challenge.

As we move through our cycle, certain experiences can intensify and with my HRT dose being adjusted by the docs at the moment, it’s definitely not helping (but that’s a story for another day).

Perimenopause can seriously disrupt the nervous system and sleep patterns. It’s not just bad sleep, its hormonal change affecting how the body regulates stress, rest, and recovery.

Is it stress, hormones, overwhelm?
Probably a combination.

So right now, my focus is on lifestyle-based support:
• Eating in a way that supports my body
• Increasing daily movement
• Creating a better bedtime routine

Rest isn’t always just about sleep.
It’s about supporting the body to switch off again and doing the basics throughout the day can really help at night.

So for me today, it’s very much back to basics.
