What a busy week we have had here at Thorntoun.

Sound baths, history talks, visits to Centrestage, Crosshouse Church, Out for Chips and Fullerton Connextions Cafe.

We've done our exercises, played boules, been pampered, had cocktails and tested our knowledge with music and sports quizzes.

Tonight we're having fish and chips and a Chinese takeaway! Tomorrow our residents have chosen boules and manicures.

Yesterday some of our activity team attended a session with Age Scotland to complete Fun Active Games Leaders Training.

We had a fantastic time learning some new games and ways to keep fit, and swapping ideas with other activity teams.We will use the training and resources to add to our Movement for Wellbeing program and in house sports.

Residents have been busy at home and out and about this week.

We've bowled, had fish and chips, visited church and Centrestage.

At home we've done our exercises, knitted, our book club met for afternoon tea and we held our residents meeting to hear what our residents have to say about their lives at Thorntoun.

We're about to bring in Friday with cocktails and fruit salad. Tomorrow we're playing boules then testing our general knowledge with a quiz!

What's got two thumbs and had a jam packed week of activities and outings?

We've been in the garden, out and about on the bus and busy at home.

Tomorrow we'll be out for lunch and then supporting Kilmarnock FC.

Next week we reopen our mini golf course, who needs Turnberry when you're here at Thorntoun!

Its National Vinyl Day!

To celebrate we've got our favourite records on in all three lounges.

We're also doing some vinyl related arts and crafts and chatting about our first ever record.

Bee-keeping, pub visits, local history, church, singing and lots and lots of time at the duck pond - what a busy week here at Thorntoun!

We visited the Ayr Flower Show where we saw how bees are kept, how orchids are grown and some fabulous fruit, veg and flowers.

We also visited XS Stock, Centrestage, Wetherspoons and Dundonald Castle.

At home we did creative writing, boules, exercises, spent time in the gardens and had a visit from the ladies of Crosshouse Church.

Finally we welcomed 3 new male ducks to our pond. Our residents will be naming them and we've had some fantastic suggestions already. Watch this space!

Are you ready for our Friday Photos?!

We've been celebrating the 80th anniversary of V Day with a very British lunch of fish and chips, jelly and ice cream and lots of fizzy juice. Shout out to our catering team who wrapped 100 fish suppers for us - it always tastes better out the paper! Thanks to our carer team for helping us set-up the lounge and serving.

We've also had bingo, duck pond visits and lots of exercises. We caught the first match of the season at Rugby Park and celebrated some Birthdays too.

Our book club and knitting clubs are growing every week. We're linking in with our local community and looking forward to our library visit to the Dick Institute next week and to delivering our knitted baby hats to Crosshouse Hospital in autumn.

Another busy week of sports, games, ducks, and parties!

We held our first line dancing party and had great fun learning some new moves.

We dodged the rain to spend time with the ducks, it has been wonderful to see so many families using the space when visiting us.

Jimmy's Pond is Open!

Jimmy Kyle was a resident of Thorntoun for many years and is missed by both staff and residents. A generous donation from Jimmy has been used to create this wonderful outdoor space here at Thorntoun.

A calm, beautiful and accessible area, Jimmy's Pond gives our residents and their loved ones a space to relax, enjoy fresh air and to socialise together.

Yesterday we came together to cut the ribbon, have a BBQ and to take our first walk round the pond.
