THE ORIGIN OF OCEAN SOUL THERAPIES

Put simply, Ocean Soul Therapies was born from a love of travel, nature and the ocean. I grew up living near the sea and soon realised that when I spent long periods of time away from the water, I not only missed it but felt actively uncomfortable. I believe in an intrinsic connection to the water and to all aspects of nature. Take a quiet walk in the woods or a paddle in the sea sometime and see how you feel after. My early working life was based in hospitality and administration. It took me until my thirties before I perceived where my true life path lay. We are not the same person at 30 as we are at 18 when we are first encouraged to choose a career for ourselves so it should be no surprise that I completely changed direction. The catalyst for me was travel. This is one of my most abiding passions and an activity that I indulge in as often as time and funds allow. By the time I hit 30, I’d known for several years that I wanted to retrain and do a job that I truly loved and felt passionate about. The problem was I didn’t know exactly what that was. At this time I set off on a solo trip to New Zealand for a year. I was in my element there, living in a campervan with no set schedule beyond a desire to see everywhere and without a care in the world. It was there that I met a fantastic and charismatic person who introduced me to the world of complementary therapies and associated meditation, yoga, energy work and a more natural way of living. I wasn't aware of it at the time but everything was sinking in and it made sense to me. Through this one person, I met more and more people who worked in complementary healthcare (and ended up taking an unintended trip to Australia but that’s another story) and I was struck by their attitude to their work. It wasn’t just a job for them but something they were passionate about and an integral part of their life and beliefs. They seemed so happy and content in this area of their lives. Personally, at this point I had been struggling with back pain and emotional issues for some years and I discovered a whole new way to help myself. Only when I returned home did I comprehend that this was my future path. I truly believe there is nothing like travel to blow open your mind and clear it of old patterns and beliefs that no longer serve you. Two years of full time study and hands-on training ensued and I opened Ocean Soul Therapies in June 2017. I love that every day is different and the personal connection I have forged with clients. Through my work I am able to educate and help people with health issues who have perhaps not found the results and relief they were hoping for with traditional healthcare. I am always learning more and thinking of ways to bring this to the public and my clients. This is where I am supposed to be, this is my life path and I’m full of gratitude for the people and circumstances that brought me here.
