GAELFORCE - GAINING MORE THAN SORE LEGS!
As many of you have already heard, this weekend .neil and I completed our first ever Gaelforce, in 4 hr 16min and 3 hr 56min respectively - and surprisingly, had a fantastic time doing so!
Despite very windy conditions meaning the race was cut short (climbing only to the shoulder of mt Errigal and no kayak), we were otherwise blessed with sunny weather.
The race (roughly) consisted of 10m run - with a horrendous 2-3mile climb- 15m cycle, mountain climb and 10mile cycle. I never for one minute expected to enjoy this daunting set of activities quite so much... maybe it was the sunshine, or maybe it was the scenery.
Or maybe it was the infectious excitement and positivity from others taking part, the desire to rise to a challenge, to see what you're capable of, and to genuinely want others to perform to the best of their ability - to raise the bar with friendly, encouraging competition.
No surprises that I'm very sore today, (teaching yoga this evening will be fun!) But what I also have is a sense of achievement, of pride in knowing I set myself a challenge and competed it and the increase in confidence that brings. The fact that my two sons and were there to share it with me makes it all the more memorable.
In the end, it's always the people that make an event. The participants and the spectators. The organisers. The loved ones who hug you at the finish line. And those at home who encourage you, send good luck wishes and in this case, are also kind enough to sponsor you. Thank you all for your support ππ
So far our total for PSPA stands at over Β£1100, which is amazing!! Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored us. If there's anyone who would like to but hasn't got round to it yet, I'll put the link in the comments.
Thanks again! ππ§ββοΈπ
