People still don’t know what KCR is and it important to be able to explain it to people, so they understand and don’t get it confused with other modality
Chiropractic Work
• Approach: Focuses mainly on the spine and nervous system.
• Method: Uses manual adjustments and manipulations (often quick, controlled thrusts) to correct misalignments, primarily in the vertebrae.
• Philosophy: Misalignments in the spine (subluxations) can affect the nervous system, causing pain, dysfunction, or reduced health.
• Benefits: Can relieve back/neck pain, improve nervous system function, increase mobility, and sometimes support overall wellness.
• Session style: Often involves short, specific adjustments rather than a full-body sequence.
Kinetic Chain Release (KCR)
• Approach: Whole-body therapy working on the “kinetic chain” — the interconnected joints, muscles, and fascia that create movement.
• Method: Gentle, structured series of stretches and mobilisations, performed head-to-toe, designed to bring the whole body back into balance.
• Philosophy: Imbalances in one part of the chain affect the whole system, so releasing tension and restoring symmetry allows the body to self-heal.
• Benefits: Improves posture, reduces pain, increases flexibility and energy, and promotes deep relaxation.
• Session style: Always follows a structured sequence; gentle, non-invasive, no high-velocity thrusts.
Key Differences
• Focus:
• Chiropractic → primarily spine and nervous system.
• KCR → whole-body balance and fascia/muscle chains.
• Techniques:
• Chiropractic → quick, high-velocity adjustments (“cracking”).
• KCR → gentle mobilisations, stretches, and positional release.
• Experience:
• Chiropractic → short, sharp adjustments, often targeting a problem area.
• KCR → longer, flowing session, addressing the whole body.
• Client Role:
• Chiropractic → usually passive; practitioner makes adjustments.
• KCR → client is more involved with movement, stretches, and awareness.
Think of it this way:
• Chiropractic is like fixing a misaligned hinge so the door swings properly.
• KCR is like balancing the whole frame, door, and floor so everything moves smoothly together.
Hope this helps
