We understand that it can be difficult to collect the ashes of a loved one following a funeral.
However, we have a significant number of ashes in storage that go back many years. Prior to cremations in April 2019, there is no legal guidance on how long we should store them, and guidance from the National Association of Funeral Directors is that we keep them for five years minimum, but after that and after substantial efforts to reach relatives of the deceased are unsuccessful, we can, as a last resort, scatter them respectfully.
We are keen to reunite the cremated remains of loved ones with their relatives, and ask that if you have the ashes of someone in your family with us and there is no arrangement in place regards our holding them, to please get in touch as soon as possible to ensure the correct arrangements are made.
