Just because it’s a new year, it doesn’t mean you can or have to change over night, it doesn’t mean that what you’ve experienced this past year is irrelevant now.

It’s a great time to reflect, to grow and to think about what you’d like to achieve in 2026.

I’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Believe in yourself, accept yourself and things will start to change šŸ’«

Whilst Christmas may be a time of safety and fun for some, for others it can be isolating, scary and unsafe.

Here are some signs that you might be in an abusive relationship -

🚩 isolated from friends and family, your partner doesn’t like you being around other people or communicating with other people

🚩 love bombing one moment and giving you silent treatment the next, you may feel like you’re treating on eggshells or worried about what mood they might come home in

🚩 they have been physically aggressive towards you. This could involve hitting, kicking, biting, slapping. NONE OF THESE ARE ACCEPTABLE.

🚩 they dismiss you constantly when you try to explain to them how you are feeling about their behaviour or actions, they may even tell you it’s your own fault and you are the one who ends up taking accountability or apologising

These are just some of the red flags that you might be in an abusive relationship. Abuse isn’t always physical, it can be emotional, psychological, financial or sexual. You are not alone and support is out there.

You can get support from the police - calling 101 or 999 if it’s a life threatening emergency

Speak with family and friends if you are concerned about your partners behaviour or if you are feeling scared

Attachment styles is something that we might talk about during therapy.

This is a really great insight into what the different styles might look like and the behaviours connected with them.

ā—ļøLET’S TALK PMDD …. ā—ļø

PMDD is a very severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Women can experience symptoms for days or weeks. It can be a very debilitating condition, leaving those experiencing it feeling extremely low and fearful of the next ā€œepisodeā€.

It can hugely impact daily life.

As someone who has experience PMDD for many years, I want to normalise women being able to speak about their experiences without facing the social knock back of ā€œit’s just hormonesā€, ā€œoh it’s your time of the monthā€ or even ā€œstop complaining it’s just a periodā€.

Having therapy for PMDD can be extremely beneficial because it gives you a safe and non judgemental space to talk about the symptoms and emotions that you may be experiencing.

You’re not alone, ladies.
