⚠️Work like you don’t have kids.
⚠️Parent and keep house like you don’t work.
⚠️Exercise & eat protein
⚠️Make sure your kids aren’t eating UPF’s
⚠️Look younger than you are
⚠️Be thin but not too thin
⚠️Don’t drink alcohol
⚠️Don’t spend time on your phone.

It’s no wonder you feel overwhelmed is it?
But maybe, we can start making our own rules.

This is more common than you’d think. OCD isn’t just cleaning!

🆘 Help!!

This little dog belongs to Amber’s school friend and her mum. She is booked in to be put to sleep this afternoon because she needs a 7k op and insurance will only cover £1k. Any pet owners will know how extortionate vet fees have become.

Please if you can give anything, even the cost of your coffee, we only have a few hours 😭😭

This was 100% me at school, so I just stopped going! Nobody asked why. Luckily now emotionally based school avoidance is being recognised, although I know there are lots of improvements required in supporting some children.

That moment before a question is asked 😰

The teacher pauses.
Looks up.
Scans the room…

And for some young people, everything inside tightens.

She wants to blend in.
To be invisible.
To go unnoticed.

But her body already knows what might be coming.

💭 Please don’t ask me.

Because if she’s asked…

👀Everyone will look at her
😳There’s pressure to speak and her mind goes blank
😰 Pressure to get the answer right
😪Fear of the sniggers if it’s wrong
😑 Fear of being mocked for not knowing
🫥Fear of freezing… of words disappearing
😭Fear of being told off or criticised for not trying or not listening

This isn’t just shyness.
It isn’t lack of effort.
It’s anticipatory anxiety 😥

The stress doesn’t start when the question is asked.

It starts long before- in the scanning, the waiting, the not-knowing if today is the day she’ll be put on the spot.

And when anxiety takes over, the thinking part of the brain goes offline.
So even answers she does know can feel suddenly unreachable.

What looks like ‘refusal’ is often fear.
What looks like ‘silence’ is often self-protection.

The kindest adjustment is simple:
✅ Not putting a child on the spot
✅ Letting them volunteer instead of being picked

Because learning can’t happen when the nervous system is in survival mode🙏🏼

And no young person should feel afraid all lesson 🙏🏼

I am witnessing a world around me where people, especially women are going to extreme lengths to change themselves with the aim of then being happy.

This is a game called 'I'll be happy when...' and is part of Transactional Analysis. You see, if we chase a time when we will be happy....we never reach it.

I will be happy when I've lost weight
I will be happy when I've had botox
I will be happy when I get a promotion
I will be happy when I am married

If you say anything that starts with 'I'll be happy when......' then actually you need to look at what's stopping you being happy NOW.

Changing your appearance and being someone you're not won't make you happy....in fact it is more likely to have the opposite effect because you are believing that there is a set way to look to be 'good enough' and you will never feel like you reach the standard.

Instead, how would it feel to love yourself as you are? To realise your body is awesome and you have so much to love about yourself without listening to the beauty world that wants you to keep spending money on a look that isn't real or sustainable and that is mostly AI generated.

Come to counselling and discover yourself just as you are and improve your self-worth and self-esteem. It's cheaper and healthier for you and your wellbeing. ❤️❤️
