“The Bear Crawl-50%”
🔹Crawling-A foundational movement pattern that builds strength and stability in the hip and shoulder joints. As babies we crawl to get stronger, then we are able to do more load bearing activities when we learn to walk.
🔹I was lucky enough to learn from the master @da_rulk during an online workshop (shoutout to the Alpha Team🤙🏽) and we discussed rationale of using functional movements as a training modality.
🔹Functional movements, such as this variation of the bear crawl, are great for improving functional strength, core strength and shoulder/hip mobility and stability.
🔹Bear Crawl 50%:
⏺Hands under shoulders, Knees under hips
⏺Knees just off the ground, keeping back flat
⏺Slight bend in elbows to take some of the load and maintaining the flat back
⏺Small movements with hands and feet- concentrate on keeping back straight and core engaged
⏺Minimise the amount of rotation of your back/shoulder/hip joints
