We love getting out in the community!

Our MHST joined forces with the 0-19 School Nursing Team at one of Biggin Hill’s SEND Coffee Mornings this week. ☕

Together, we had some brilliant conversations with parents and carers — sharing information about the support available in schools for children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. 💬

🤝 Joint working like this helps us connect with families, answer questions, and raise awareness of how we can help — from emotional wellbeing and anxiety to self-esteem and everyday challenges.

Big thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat! 💬👋 Biggin Hill Primary Academy Hull Health Visitors & School Nurses - IPHNS

Clean Air Day – 19th June 2025
Clean air day aims to teach us about poor air around us. Clean air day can help us understand how using items in our homes can pollute the air. This could be items used to clean the home, keep us warm or make the home smell nice. This is because the ingredients used are not natural.
Poor air is worse for young people, older people and people with an illness.
By carrying out small changes, air pollution can be reduced around you and your families.
Small changes could be:
• Taking a walk when it is not busy outside.
• Opening the windows midday.
• Riding a bike rather than driving a car.
• Smoking outside the home.
• Having the oven serviced often.

Drowning Prevention Week
Angie and Alicia have been out this week sharing ways to stay safe around water

18/06/2025

As the temperatures begin to soar this week, so can the temptation for youngsters to cool off in open waters.

Open waters such as lakes, ponds, and rivers can pose many hidden dangers even for the strongest of swimmers.

- waters can be cold on even the hottest days.
The cold water shock affects muscles making swimming difficult

- hidden dangers can lurk under the surface

- surfaces are uneven and it’s difficult to predict its depth. Banks can be steep making entry and exiting difficult

- strong currents can easily sweep people away, even when they are strong swimmers

- waters can be contaminated and make you sick
