Today's keep sane activity is all about the cookies. It took 3 hours of stopping and starting so I could rest but I'm pretty happy with the end result ☺️

Today has consisted mainly of naps and a very exhausting shower and dressing change! My vertical incision is healing really well, but my groin is still quite aggy and looking a bit grizzly. Hopefully the inadine patch helps as it has healed the bits that looked bad last week.
Because of getting my stomach and mons done at the same time I've got 3 T sections, where the stitches meet from 3 sides. They look extreme but thankfully seem to be healing 🀞
I don't need many pain meds now but the exhaustion, breathlessness and swelling are something else! But I am feeling more positive.

We compromised that I'm still technically resting if I'm sat down and using a stand mixer to continue our Sunday pancake tradition. Or that was my point of view anyway. Definitely didn't hear the kids disagreeing 🀣
Touchwood recovery seems to be going fine apart from rock hard swelling around my pelvis. Thankfully the angry stitches look to be behaving now 🀞

I love that my stockings shave off my top layer of skin 😬
2 weeks down, 1 week until I can start doing little things and 2 weeks until I'm free from the first of the torture devices.
Sadly the binder has to be on another 4 weeks 😞

I don't think I'll be winning any post surgery fashion awards. All my clothes are massive and my sexy green stockings don't blend in as much as the traditional white ones!
I've got a couple of angry looking stitches on my groin incision so I'm trying to stay calm whilst waiting for advice from my surgeon. I don't think it'll ever not be weird sending a random medical dude photos of my fupa that he's cut open πŸ™ˆ
My mood is okay, day 11 of staying indoors is as expected. But its all for the long term gains 🀞

I can see my belly button for the first time as an adult!!!!!!!!!
A few people have messaged me about the procedure, that are considering similar etc. So here's an honest review of the 1st week.
I had a gastric sleeve in 2023 and on the day of this surgery had lost 12st 3lb. I had an extended fluer de lis and mons reduction and the surgeon removed around 6kgs of loose skin. I had the bits removed that cause me the most physical and emotional pain. What you choose is very personal so try not to compare!
There's no way around it, the recovery is rough.
- Expect to wear compression for 6 weeks.
- Rest! Because my incisions are longer due to my skin I've got to rest for 3 weeks which is already the worse part.
- Definitely take the pain meds, its awful when they wear off.
- Follow your consultants instructions not what other people recommend as they are not the expert on your procedure.
- Be kind to yourself, it's an emotional rollercoaster and although it's a decision to improve your life it still comes with its challenges ❀️

Madness!
4 days post op. Days are consisting mainly of sleeping, eating and feeling like I've ran a marathon every time I go for a wee. Some fluid has collected under my breast bone but the consultant is positive it will disperse naturally. I'm on strict rest for 3 weeks so the aim is to not lose my marbles out of boredom!

All went smoothly as far as I'm aware but didn't go down until late so haven't seen my surgeon yet.
It's so weird looking down and not seeing all the skin 🀯
Thank you for all the well wishes and support. I really do appreciate it and a huge thanks to James who was an absolute rock throughout.
Now to start the long road to recovery.
I promise I will get back to everyone when I'm feeling more human.

See you on the flip side 🀞
