Intergenerational Magic at Cottingham Manor! 🎒✨

We enjoyed a wonderful visit from the students of Hall Road School today, and what a pleasure it was for everyone involved.

The students jumped right in, helping our residents with colouring and challenging word puzzles. The highlight of the day was seeing two determined students successfully complete the "impossible" jigsaw puzzle that one of our residents had been working on! 🧩👏

These visits bring so much vibrancy and joy to our home. Thank you, Hall Road School, for spending time with us!

A Sense of Purpose at Cottingham Manor 🏠✨

Today, our residents on the Haven Unit spent some time helping with familiar household chores, including matching socks, folding towels, and dusting.

While these may seem like simple tasks, engaging in "productive" activities is incredibly beneficial for those living with dementia. It helps to:
* Reduce restlessness and agitation by focusing energy on a familiar goal.
* Provide a sense of accomplishment and pride in a job well done.
* Maintain a sense of normalcy and connection to daily life.

It was a calm and productive afteenoon for everyone involved!

Bringing the outdoors in at Cottingham Manor!🌼🌹

Our talented ladies on the Haven Unit have been busy creating these stunning table centrepieces for our dining room.

Flower arranging is one of our favourite activities because it is so sensory-rich.

Beyond making our home look beautiful, it helps our residents:
Improve fine motor skills through delicate handling.
Reduce anxiety through the calming scent and touch of nature.
Boost self-esteem by creating something lovely.

Singing, Dancing, and Smiles! 💃🎤

There was a real buzz on the Haven floor today as our residents enjoyed some incredible live music. From tapping toes to full-on dancing, the energy was infectious!

We love hosting live performers because we see firsthand how therapeutic music is. It’s more than just a song; it’s about sparking memories and feeling a sense of joy and identity.

A Day of Traditions & Treats at Cottingham Manor! 🏮🥞

Today was a double celebration as we marked both Chinese New Year and Pancake Day. Our residents had a wonderful time diving into Chinese culture, discovering their zodiac animals and elements, then hand-writing them on traditional decorations for our celebration tree 🐉✨

The festivities continued for our Haven residents with a delicious pancake and fruit coffee morning.

It was a lovely way to encourage nutrition and hydration while enjoying some social time.

It’s certainly been a busy, meaningful day for everyone involved!
