💭Consistency… it’s been on my mind 💭

I’ve been thinking recently about consistency – especially around posting here – it’s definitely not my strength and I’ve noticed how much of an issue it can be for me. Maybe it’s because I grew up in an era without social media; maybe it’s a confidence thing and probably a bit of both. Whatever it is, it’s definitely got me reflecting.

And it feels particularly relevant in January, when so many of us are starting new goals, intentions, or “fresh starts”. We often hear that “consistency is key to success”… but knowing that and *living* it can be very different things.

From a therapeutic perspective, consistency isn’t about being perfect or pushing yourself relentlessly. It’s often about what’s happening underneath. So what actually helps consistency?

💭Here are a few thoughts 💭

✔️Being kind to yourself – consistency grows much more easily from encouragement than from self-criticism. Beating yourself up usually leads to stopping, not continuing.
✔️Understanding your patterns – if something keeps dropping off, there’s often a good reason. Curiosity works better than judgement.
✔️Keeping it realistic – small, manageable steps are more sustainable than big, all-or-nothing plans.
✔️Feeling safe enough to show up – confidence, fear of being seen, or fear of getting it “wrong” can all affect consistency.
✔️Allowing flexibility – consistency doesn’t mean doing something every day without fail; it means coming back to it again and again.
✔️Connecting to your ‘why’– when something has personal meaning, it’s easier to stay with it, even when motivation dips.

If you’re struggling with consistency – whether it’s with goals, habits, relationships, or showing up for yourself – it might not be a lack of willpower at all. There’s often something deeper worth understanding.

I have just seen my last client of 2025 and as the year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to thank you all for sharing your stuff, trusting the process and most importantly believing in yourselves and this crazy thing called therapy!

I will be taking a short Christmas break from today, Tuesday 23rd December until Tuesday 6th January.

If you are thinking of starting therapy, please drop me a message and l will get in touch once I return in the New Year.

Finally, I hope this Christmas gives you whatever you need most — whether that’s rest, quiet moments, laughter, connection, or simply a pause from the busyness of life.

🎄Hello, December! 🎄

Sending a big dose of good luck to anyone gearing up for a full month of Elf on the Shelf antics! I absolutely love seeing everyone’s photos — the creativity, the chaos, but most of all, the little spark of magic it brings ✨

Thinking about this got me thinking 💭
What if we gave ourselves permission to be a little mischievous too? 💫

Life can feel heavy, serious and full of pressure — but it’s okay to put that weight down from time to time…
😊 It’s okay to play.
😊 It’s ok to be silly.
😊 It’s ok to surprise yourself.
😊 Let out your inner mischievous elf and allow yourself a tiny moment of lightness.

✨As we step into December, maybe try sprinkling a little harmless mischief into your days. A small moment of fun. A spark of magic just for you.

I’d love to see your elf photos — share them in the comments below! ✨

At Believe Therapy, the Relationship Matters ❤️

If you’re looking to start therapy, you might hear or read a lot about techniques, qualifications, and different therapeutic approaches — and yes, those things are important, but what truly makes therapy work is the relationship.

You can have the most qualified therapist on paper, but if you don’t connect with them… it’s just not going to land.

Therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and genuinely comfortable being yourself.

So… who am I? Here’s a little glimpse into how I practice…

☕ First things first — I will always offer you a cuppa.
Walking into therapy can be daunting, and comfort is key. I will always start with warmth.

💬 I like a bit of chit-chat.
Not filler — real human “getting to know you”stuff. You're not just my client, you’re a person trying to build a connection and that really matters to me.

❤️ I genuinely care.
If you know me, you will know that if I do something, I do it properly.
That means you get my full investment in your journey, your progress, and your wellbeing.

🤝 I’ll share bits of me too — if and when it’s helpful and ethical. Therapy isn’t a blank wall. It’s a relationship. And sometimes a small piece of me helps you feel less alone.

😂 I’ll laugh with you, maybe swear with you, and I’ll always show up as a real human being.

Most importantly…
✨ I’ll be there with you every step of the way.

Please get in touch to find out more ❤️

As we step into the last week of November, the build-up to Christmas really begins and every year around this time, I find myself thinking of those who may be struggling quietly behind the scenes.
The social media posts, the TV ads, the music playing in every shop — it can all start to feel overwhelming. Everywhere we look, there’s something (or someone) to compare ourselves to.

But here’s a gentle reminder I want to leave with you today:

✨ Don’t compare.

Not to a stranger online, not to an advert, not to an idea of what Christmas “should” look like.
You only have you to compare to — the you who’s trying, the you who’s doing their best, the you who’s navigating whatever this season brings. That is enough. ❤️

Be kind to yourself as we move into December. Your version of the season is valid, even if it looks different from what you see around you.
✨Believe in your pace
✨Believe in your progress
✨Believe in you

❄️ The First Snowfall ❄️

Hi all… I hope you’re enjoying this first snowfall and please go steady if you’re out there driving in it ❄️

I’ve said before how I love using metaphor and analogy in the therapy room, and this morning I found myself thinking how magical it is just to watch a snowflake fall …
❄️ Delicate
❄️ Temporary
❄️ Intentional

In many ways, life mirrors that snowflake — fragile at times, beautifully unique and shaped by forces around us.

Just as a single snowflake can melt in an instant, our moments in life can be fleeting too. But when we slow down, notice the details, and honor our own softness, we learn to appreciate the quiet beauty within change, uncertainty, and new beginnings.

So let’s use this first snowfall as a gentle reminder:
✨ Handle yourself with care.
✨ Honour your uniqueness.
✨ Allow yourself to be shaped, not shattered.
✨ And remember—you don’t have to weather the storms alone.

I’m here for you if you need to talk 🤍

🌍 International Men’s Day 2025 🌍

Today is a reminder that men deserve space, support and real conversations about mental health.

Only 9% of my Believe Therapy followers are men!! I would love to see that change 💙

Men often struggle in silence, and the numbers around men’s mental health tell us we need to talk more, not less.

So today, let’s start shifting that statistic together.

You can help simply by sharing this post and help more men see that this is a space for them, too 💙

Men — it’s your turn to talk.
✨ Reach out
✨ Text a friend
✨ Invite someone for a drink or a walk
✨ Check in
✨ It’s more than okay to talk — it’s powerful.

Let’s make conversations part of the culture.
Let’s make support normal.
Let’s make space for men.

🏆Celebrate the Small Wins 🏆

Change can often feel like a mountain to climb. When you look at the full picture, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or discouraged. But here’s the truth:

✔️Progress doesn’t happen all at once — it happens one small, meaningful step at a time.
✔️Every tiny shift in your habits, perspective, or routines is still movement forward.
✔️Every moment you choose to try again counts.
✔️Every small win deserves recognition.
✔️Breaking your goals into achievable steps can make the journey feel lighter, more manageable, and more empowering.

Remember:
✨ Any small change is progress ✨

🌿 Understanding Your Feelings Is Where Real Change Begins 🌿

In life we often spend years pushing our feelings down, brushing them aside, or convincing ourselves they’re “not a big deal.” This can be a survival strategy that we learned in our early years — but it can leave us feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure of why we react the way we do.

In therapy, the real transformation often begins when we give ourselves permission to feel.
To pause.
To listen.
To ask: “What is this emotion trying to tell me?”

When we finally allow space for our feelings, something powerful happens:
✨ We begin to understand where they’re coming from.
✨ We start connecting them to the core beliefs we’ve carried—sometimes since childhood.
✨ And we discover which of those beliefs might need updating, softening, or completely rewriting.

My clients will then often ask me, “Okay… now I understand what I’m feeling and why. But what do I do next?”
The truth is, many are surprised by how much begins to shift just from uncovering the root.

Awareness alone can loosen old patterns and open the door to change. From there, therapy helps you challenge those beliefs, gently reshape them, and build new ways of relating to yourself.

❤️ Understanding your feelings isn’t the end of the journey — but it’s one of the most powerful steps you’ll ever take.

If you think you might be ready to take that first step, please get in touch x
