Today marks the start of National Trustee Week, but every week should be a celebration of the work and support our Trustee's commit to throughout the year, with this week alone seeing our Trustees host staff meetings, deliver training, chair fundraising meetings, and attend our annual Bonfire Event.

However, this year, we are starting with a fond farewell to one of our longstanding Trustees, Chris. Chris has supported the Trust for 15 years and has now hung up his hat. His sharp business mind and critical thinking has challenged the Trust on numerous occasions, allowing us to focus on key issues, and will be much missed. Everyone at the Trust wishes Chris the best of luck in his next endeavours.

Working in care isn’t always easy, but our incredible clients make every day worthwhile.

In 2026, we want to recognise our clients’ achievements in a special way, with a presentation trophy and certificate to celebrate personal milestones. This is anything from climbing Britain’s Three Peaks, trying a new activity, making independent choices, or mastering everyday skills.

To help us make this happen, we’re inviting local businesses and organisations to get involved. Your support would help cover the cost of the trophy and certificates, and in return:

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

💡Did you know there is around a 15% difference reduction in breast cancer screening uptakes in females aged 50-69 with learning disabilities than those without?

Being a support worker is being a voice and an advocate for our service users with learning disabilities, and helping them get the support they need

It was lovely to receive all these cards from the students at Acorn Centre from our Hoedown event. Many other local Day Centre service users attend this event and it means a lot to us to receive the thanks and feedback afterwards.
