06/03/2026

As we approach International Women’s Day this weekend, we’re recognising the vital contribution women make across healthcare and social care.

Globally, women make up around 67% of the health and social care workforce and nearly 90% of nurses and midwives, delivering essential care to billions of people every day and driving an estimated 5 billion patient interactions worldwide.

These figures highlight the extraordinary impact women have across the healthcare sector - from frontline care to specialist and support roles that keep services running.

However, while women represent the majority of the workforce, there is still progress to be made. Many remain under-represented in leadership positions, and gender pay gaps across the sector can still exceed 25% in some areas.

At Sure Healthcare, we’re proud to support the incredible professionals working across health and social care, and we remain committed to supporting a workforce where talent, dedication and compassion are recognised and valued.

Today we celebrate the women who make such an important contribution to healthcare - and the continued progress toward greater equality across the sector.

Happy International Women’s Day.
