If you’re in your 40s or 50s and suddenly feel like your body’s changing — you’re not imagining it. But let’s be real: menopause alone isn’t the root cause of sudden weight gain.

Here’s what really tends to be behind it:

✅ Less energy = more time sitting, less spontaneous movement

✅ Muscle loss = fewer calories burned day-to-day

✅ Decades of low-protein, diet culture habits that didn’t support long-term health or strength

✅ Poor nutrient absorption after age 30 — especially protein and key micronutrients

✅ Hormonal shifts that affect how we store fat combined with the above = the perfect storm

The changes to metabolism directly caused by menopause?

Minimal.

But when we don’t adapt our habits, that’s when things start to feel out of control.

We're targeted with so much BS, and it's time to cut the crap

We're not macines - We're living organisms with fluctuating emotions, hormones and needs, and a load of responsibilities that burn us out on a daily

Combining a deeper understanding of our bodies, basic nutritional knowledge, realistic goals and flexibility is the magic recipe for real success ✨️

Side note:

There is absolutely a time and a place for food tracking, but most women have far bigger gaps in their lifestyles that need addressing before applying this tool

Wow, how are we halfway through the year already?!

So much has happened...

The StrongHer Collective and StrongHer Network was created 💪🏼

The StrongHer Weightlifting Club is growing and becoming such an amazing community of same minded women ❤️

Strong Mums Fitness Club has BLOWN UP ✨️

Fun events such as the Yorkshire Wolds Way and sunset swim & sauna with the SC club (Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge in August)

Trying to juggle family life, business and my own wellbeing has been (and still is) a massive challenge, but it feels like I'm finding my groove (despite the current teething situation...) 🫡

I am grateful for my supportive wife, every coach I have had the pleasure of connecting and working with so far, and every member of my Collective 💪🏼✨️

You're all part of making the fitness world a healthier, more positive space for women to work on their wellbeing 👊
