What we lived through then can take a heavy toll on how we live now, effecting our relationships, our work, our physical health and state of mind.

Going at your own pace and with his expert guidance please believe me when I say that you can get to point of calm and space that you never believed you could. “We didn’t talk about feelings when I was growing up” is something I hear a lot in working with clients with high anxiety…

I’m not saying that playing with dolls is the answer now but it’s an interesting article and improving in emotional literacy definitely helps in reducing anxiety, as well as massively improving quality of life.

I was thinking this week about what worried people mean when they say things like, “You don’t want to hear about my worries.”

Anxiety is a condition all about the build up of pressure to avoid (being) a thing that trully scares us….

So when somebody says, “You don’t want to hear about my worries.” they might mean (and probably not consciously) something like…

🔸 If you knew how much I worried you might leave me.

🔸 We never talked about this stuff when I was little so I don’t know how anyone could help me with it.

🔸 If you knew how much I worried you might have me taken away.

🔸 I used to get berated for being emotional. If I tell you about my feelings you might hurt me.

These thoughts are normally laid down when we’re little and they’re often operating in the background but still steering our behaviour. Easy to see how the pressure/anxiety builds.

An interesting article with a click bait title.

Christmas and the New Year definitely have their own process. Not everyone gets caught up in it and some of the distress people are experiencing right now may have nothing to do with it, but there is an invitation to be ‘more than you are’ at this time of the year through new year/new you resolutions, dry January, exercise routines and so on.

I think it can be part of the Christmas process of over extend/indulge to make everything magically ok. Finishing the year over tired, over skint, over weight and then starting the next one with an undertone of ‘you should be more than you are’ is a familiar pattern for a lot of people.

Not everyone, but if you feel yourself in that place, I wouldn’t underestimate being caught up in a seasonal process.

Blue Monday, known as the most depressing day of the year, was made up by a travel company in 2004.
