Adults animal assisted mental well-being club.
6 week course running from 31st January to 7th March.
1pm-3pm
Each session clients will participate in facilitated animal/ equine interactions by level 4 diploma trained equine facilitated services practitioner, trained by Athena herd foundation.
Activities can include;
Mindful and relaxing activities such as brushing the ponies/ pigs, mindful walks or observations of the horses and facilitated exercises that allow individuals the opportunity to explore how their energy can affect the horses which can help to develop better emotional intelligence and regulation allowing personal growth.
Animal Care and yard jobs, mucking out, feeding and watering the animals and field care. This gives individuals a sense of achievement and a chance to learn new skills. Empowering individuals to try new things and improve confidence and self esteem in a friendly, encouraging and non judgemental environment.
Time to socialise over light refreshments, with other participants, animals or staff at Farmer equine interactions.
We will also spend time exploring other creative and mindful activities to help improve overall mental well being, and learn about new creative outlets that you can continue at home.
This can include arts and crafts such as painting, needle felting and clay modelling.
This course hopes to allow individuals time and space to learn new skills, improve their mental well being and manage stress, grow emotional awareness, improve self esteem and hopefully make new friends.
This is a fully funded course kindly funded by Do it for Yorkshire, All is asked on your part is the completion of 3 questionnaires, monitoring your mental well-being and review at the end of the course that documents if you feel it has benefited you and consent to photographs (if possible )to document the sessions as evidence to Do it for Yorkshire and potentially use on social media if appropriate.
