Here’s why you should never look for someone that will fix everything for you…

A Physio should not be someone that fixes a condition, but rather an individual who helps guide and educate the person in pain towards a long-term self-management plan.

Such a plan must revolve around more than quick fixes as it is unlikely that any immediate intervention will produce long-term changes in health.

Factors that we should all consider and work toward implementing in our lives include:
1️⃣ Adequate Sleep (duration and quality)
2️⃣ Exercise (cardiovascular & resistance training)
3️⃣ Nutrition (caloric balance & quality)
4️⃣ Stress Management

As you can imagine, these are not items that are typically adjusted over night.

Find someone that is focused on motivating you to develop long-term health habits rather than quick fixes.

Tag someone who inspires you to keep growing 😊

Pain Isn’t Always a Signal to Stop. Experiencing discomfort or pain? It doesn’t always mean you should rest completely. Finding your ‘sweet spot’ in movement can help you stay active and aid recovery......

The ‘sweet spot’ means moving within a comfortable range, intensity, and volume. This can be as simple as a walk, some mobility exercises, meditation, or floor work. It’s all about balance!

The ‘sweet spot’ means moving within a comfortable range, intensity, and volume. This can be as simple as a walk, some mobility exercises, meditation, or floor work. It’s all about balance!

Try using the VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) to gauge your pain. If your discomfort is more than 4 out of 10, it’s time to adjust. Lower the intensity, duration, or change the type of exercise.

Listen, Adjust, and Move! Pain is a guide, not a stop sign. Find your sweet spot and keep moving within your comfort zone.

If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.

To achieve different outcomes, you must change your approach and try new strategies.

If you are in pain and nothing is improving you need to change something.

Improve sleep hygiene, move more/less, Improve hydration, meditate and/or seek medical advice

3 myths about injury you NEED to know if you work at a desk...

There is no ‘good’ or perfect posture, your next posture is your best posture. Standing, sitting, lying etc can all lead to issues if done for long periods of time. The danger is in the dosage!

While standing desks can offer benefits, they are not a cure-all for desk-related injuries. Standing for long periods can have implications and lead to leg, foot, and lower back pain. It’s essential to alternate between sitting and standing. Keep moving!

Having rounded shoulders is not because you sit at a desk and is not going to solely cause injury. When you sit or stand with a forward-leaning posture, gravity gradually pulls your shoulders forward, leading to muscular imbalances. Again, keep moving!

Your next posture is your BEST posture….

Typically, when someone refers to good posture, they refer to a posture which appears to be correct and desirable. This kind of posture is often seen in a person who is seated in a chair, with their shoulders pulled back, their chin slightly tilted upwards, and their back straight. But, does this kind of posture really equate to good overall health, prevent or reduce injuries?

The answer is no. It is important to remember that posture is a personal thing and not all postures will be the same. Just because one person has a posture that looks “correct”, doesn’t mean that it is necessarily better than another person’s posture. Everyone’s body is unique and different postures can be appropriate depending on the individual.

Conversely, while poor posture is often thought of as incorrect or undesirable, this isn’t necessarily true either. When a person has poor posture, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they have bad overall health or are at a greater risk of injury.

A person might have “poor” posture due to general fatigue. It’s important to be aware of how certain postures can affect the body over the long run, but correcting the posture shouldn’t be seen as a fix-all solution for health problems.

Its important to acknowledge that there is no one “correct” way to sit or stand. Posture should always be individualised based on a person’s own physical needs and limitations. It’s fine to strive for symmetry, but it’s also important to recognize the flexibility and variety of postures that individuals may have in different contexts.

Remember your next posture is your best posture!

Don’t keep chasing results…

There are no quick fixes for recovery, rehabilitation and reaching your goals…

You can’t buy being fit, strong and healthy…

You’ve got to implement changes into your routine that you can stick to and give your body the time it needs.

Try to be realistic and focus on making a habit rather than just the result.

🔍 MRI Myths Debunked!

🔍 Did you know that what shows up on an MRI scan doesn’t always dictate your pain levels? 🤔

It’s true! Many have structural issues like disc bulges or joint degeneration visible on MRI, yet feel little to no pain.

Conversely, some experience pain without any visible abnormalities. 😲

Why? Pain is complex, influenced by factors beyond just what’s seen on imaging.

So, next time you get an MRI result, remember: it’s just one piece of the puzzle! 💡

5 Things YOU should be doing on your rest days…

1. Mindful eating and hydration:
Yes it’s important to treat yourself every so often… but make sure you are staying hydrated and eating adequate protein for muscle repair and regeneration.

2. Mobility routine: Choose 2-4 mobility exercises, get your steps in and MOVE your joints! (Check out some of our mobility routines for ideas)

3. Adequate sleep: Don’t underestimate the importance of sleep! Allow the body and mind to be at complete rest to recharge those batteries.

4. Spend quality time with friends/family: This could be anything you enjoy doing together or just having time to reflect on your week with them. Always try to make time for your support system!

5. You time: Remember to prioritise “me time” for yourself. Whether it’s indulging in a hobby or going to the cinema, taking time for yourself is essential for well-being.
