I was invited to the REBA Wellbeing Congress in London last week and I came away inspired 💫and motivated 🌟 by the depth of care 💚 and the breadth of offerings (products and services) 📲 being offered to staff across organisations.
Here are some key 🔑 insights based on a) my own experience as an organisation well-being consultant and b) takeaways I gathered from the Congress
👩💼🧑💼employees are looking for more than just a salary 💵. To attract and retain the best, you need to provide the best in terms of e.g. Workplace culture, personalised health and well-being benefits, scope for growth and skill development, flexible working, a space of psychological safety/belonging and inclusion, social and environmental responsibility and more.
💡 know your demographic and know that life happens! Staff within your organisation will go through different life stages. You need to provide support at and through these stages. (This takes me back to something a lecturer in medicine once said to me, "provide personalised care at mthe point of need").
At any given point your workforce will be going through life stages and events e.g. family planning, childcare, gender transition, menopause, bereavement, financial education, advice and planning, retirement planning and more. Be there for your people.
📧Communicating the products/services and benefits available in an accessible, practical and timely manner will make a difference to uptake and engagement. Let your people know what’s available and remind them at regular intervals.
E.g. fertility benefits are mainly accessed by female employees. But men or women with female partners need to know that the benefit is for them as well. Or e.g. financial education isn't just for those who are nearing retirement, it can help across all stages to budget, spend, invest, save etc.
