Sometimes it’s not the food.
Sometimes it’s the stress around the food.

Eating on the go. 🏃‍♀️
Skipping meals.
Rushing lunch at your desk. 💻
Eating while replying to emails. 📩
Never truly sitting down to switch off.

Even when the food itself is nourishing, your body may still struggle to digest well if you are constantly in “go mode”.

Stress can slow digestion, increase bloating, affect gut motility and change appetite signals. ✨

How we eat matters just as much as what we eat. 🌿

Struggling with bloating, discomfort, or feeling “off” after certain foods?
It could be a food intolerance.

A food intolerance isn’t the same as an allergy. It’s often slower, more subtle, and can show up as digestive issues, fatigue, headaches, skin flare-ups, or brain fog.
But why do they happen?

One common reason is something known as increased gut permeability (often referred to as leaky gut).

Your gut lining acts like a barrier, allowing nutrients through while keeping unwanted substances out.

When this barrier becomes compromised, tiny gaps can form. This allows partially digested food particles to pass through into the bloodstream, where the immune system may react to them.

Over time, this can lead to sensitivities or intolerances to certain foods.

This may show up as:
✨ bloating and gas
✨ food reactions
✨ fatigue
✨ skin issues
✨ brain fog

Food intolerances are often a sign the gut needs support, not just something to cut out and ignore.
When you support gut health and restore balance, the body can often become more tolerant again

Your symptoms are always giving you information.

With May being National Walking Month, it’s a timely reminder that one of the most effective ways to manage stress is also one of the simplest.
Walking.

Not for steps, not for performance, just to create space.
Even 10–15 minutes a day can help regulate stress hormones, clear mental clutter and give your body a break from constant stimulation.
I’m lucky to live close to Richmond Park, and although I’m still slowly rehabbing, it’s become the best place for me to come, reset and move at a pace is right for me.
It’s easy to overlook because it feels too simple to “count.”
But often, it’s these small, consistent habits that have the biggest impact.

How you start your day matters more than you think.

Grabbing a croissant or sugary breakfast on the go might feel quick and easy, but it can lead to blood sugar spikes, energy crashes and cravings later in the day.
Starting your morning with a balanced meal makes a huge difference.
Think protein, fibre and healthy fats to help keep blood sugar levels stable, support energy and keep you feeling fuller for longer.

Instead of grabbing a quick pastry, you could try:
✨ an egg muffin - keep an eye out for the recipe in the next few days
✨ Greek yoghurt with berries and seeds
✨ overnight oats with nuts and cinnamon
✨ a chia pot with berries and nut butter

Prepping something the night before can make mornings so much easier — especially when you need something quick to take with you.
These options provide a much better balance of nutrients to support steady energy, focus, and fewer mid-morning crashes.

Small changes like this can have a big impact — not just on energy, but also on gut health, mood, and cravings throughout the day.
Start your day by supporting your body, not stressing it

Last week I delivered a corporate wellbeing session on stress and gut health with the main focus being:

Just because something feels normal, doesn’t mean it’s right.
Many people aren’t dealing with obvious burnout.
Instead, they’re navigating the quieter signs of stress - poor sleep, tummy troubles, brain fog, reduced focus.
Nothing extreme. Just… constant.

And over time, it becomes accepted as “just how things are.”
But these signals aren’t random - they’re communication.
We explored simple, practical ways to respond - from making better food choices on the go to reducing reliance on quick sugar fixes.

Hello May 🌿

A new month and a fresh chance to reset.
This month, we’re focusing on wellbeing in a way that feels realistic for busy lives. That’s small habits that help you feel calmer, more energised and more in tune with your body.

This May, let’s shine a light on:
• stress awareness
• mental health awareness
• supporting the autonomic nervous system
• the power of walking and gentle movement
• creating moments of calm through meditation, rest, and breath
Your nervous system influences so much of how you feel each day — from stress and sleep to digestion, energy and mood. When we support it, the whole body benefits.

It’s also a lovely time to reconnect with what’s in season — think fresh greens, asparagus, strawberries, peas, and lighter, nourishing meals.
This month is about less pressure and more support.

More movement.
Better rest.
More awareness.
More calm.

Small daily habits can create powerful shifts in how you feel.

If you’re looking to support your digestion, energy and overall wellbeing, these are three simple habits to start with:

1️⃣ Prioritise protein + fibre at breakfast
Start your day with a balanced meal that includes protein and fibre to support blood sugar balance, energy and regular bowel movements. Think eggs with vegetables, overnight oats with seeds, or an acai protein bowl.

2️⃣ Support regular daily bowel movements
Healthy digestion should include regular, comfortable bowel movements. Stay hydrated, increase fibre gradually, and include movement throughout the day to help support gut motility.

3️⃣ Reduce hidden gut disruptors where possible
Look at the everyday factors that may be affecting your gut, such as chronic stress, processed foods, poor sleep and lack of routine. Small consistent changes can make a big difference.
Your gut is the foundation of your health. Take these habits into next month and let your body thank you

Struggling with your weight even though you feel like you’re doing everything right?

It may not just be about food.

Your gut health and stress levels can have a huge impact on weight regulation.
When the gut is out of balance (dysbiosis), it can affect digestion, cravings, blood sugar balance, inflammation and how your body stores fat.
Add ongoing stress and raised cortisol can increase cravings, slow digestion and encourage fat storage, especially around the middle.
Stress can also disrupt the gut microbiome, creating a cycle where poor gut health and stress continue to feed into each other.

This may show up as:
✨ stubborn weight gain
✨ bloating
✨ cravings
✨ low energy
✨ difficulty losing weight

Sometimes weight struggles are your body’s way of telling you something deeper needs support.

Support the gut, calm the stress response and your body can start working with you 🌿
