Some of our residents were busy yesterday baking Coombe's Christmas Cake Spectacular!
Now they're tasked with the all important job of feeding it with a cheeky bit of brandy until it's ready for Signature's annual Christmas Cake Competition with all the other Homes.

It was great that Justyna joined Pat and Mark this week for their weekly game of Table Tennis. Justyna has not played in quite a while however you could see she has played before. This week it was all about maintaining a good rally. Between Pat and Mark they got to 15 - very impressive indeed! Who's going to join in next week?

Coombe Hill Manor have embraced World Mental Health Day 2025 to debut their weekly "Thank Goodness It's Friday" Staff Social.

Today Team Members were invited to put the obstacles they face in their day to day in a communal "Stress Bucket", designed to recognise that life isn't perfect and to promote a culture of empathy, solidarity and support.

The giggles chiming through the Bistro would certainly suggest that the team felt lifted by the experience and we are already looking forward to next Friday's shenanigans.

After all, promoting positive mental health isn't just for World Mental Health Day!

Last week Pat and Mark were joined by Duncan who added his own individual flair to table tennis. It turned into "winner stays on" towards the end.......needless to say it was Pat who was getting the most game time! Rematch tomorrow - exciting times!!!!

Did someone say Christmas? Yes they did!!! Today, some of residents gathered for an Arts and Crafts session with a Christmas twist. These decorations have been made with love in preparation to be sold at our Christmas Fayre. A little Christmas background music certainly helped everyone get in the mood

In acknowledgement of World Heart Day and to mark the end of Coombe's Cross Country Step Challenge for the British Heart Foundation, we came together today to celebrate our achievement in virtually walking from John O'Groats to Taunton in Somerset. A massive 1,415,692 steps were undertaken by staff and residents. Well done to all those involved, next year will we definitely get to Land's End!

After having last week off from playing (we think Mark was secretly in training somewhere), Game 3 yesterday proved an interesting match. Luckily Mark was back in sports attire this week as Pat's shot selection certainly gave him the run around again. Despite his best efforts and a series of long rallies, Pat came out on top. Game 4 is next Thursday 2nd October at 4.00pm - please feel free to pop in to offer your support (you can even join in if you so wish - Mark could probably do with the rest!)

Yesterday we hosted a Senior Sector Business Network Lunch kindly arranged by Ashley Jordan from One Stop Organisers. It was great to get a variety of local businesses around the table who donated monies towards BRACE Dementia Research. We served a 7-course Autumn tasting menu for the occasion which was well received by our guests. Thank you to all attendees - we hope to get you all back around the table at Christmas
