Our team is dedicated to providing the best experience to our clients. Floatation is a free floating of the body on the water surface in floating tanks filled with water and Epsom salt, providing adequate buoyancy. The buoyancy created effectively removes the effects of gravity on the body, and brings the individual close to an experience of total weightlessness. Unless you are an astronaut, this is the only situation you will encounter where your body is free from the harmful forces of gravity. A huge amount of brain-power is used every second in order to deal with the strain that gravity places on one’s body but now floating weightlessly your body is perfectly supported by a cushion of silky body
temperature liquid. The body temperature of the water means that once you are settled in the tank, it is virtually impossible to distinguish between parts of the body that are in contact with the water and those that aren’t. The body drifts in conditions of complete sensory isolation from external stimuli. Sounds, images, touch, the force of gravity disappear... Freed from all sensation of gravity, temperature, touch, sight and sound (which together account for 90% of normal neuro-muscular activity), you conserve and redirect vast amounts of natural physical and mental energy. The ultra-deep relaxation of floating “resets” the body’s hormonal and metabolic balance, accelerating recovery from the effects of stress, illness, injury or strenuous exercise. With no commands needing to be sent out, the logical side of the brain is rendered redundant, and its activity slows down until it synchronises with the creative side. This leaves the individual in a dreamlike state, akin to the thoughts experienced just before you go to sleep. In this state, the brain releases vast amounts of endorphins. While the state of relaxation may be deep and profound, the individual’s brain stays dreamily alert. The brain gradually shifts from its usual waking beta state to generate deep alpha, theta or even delta waves, the state-of-mind that Buddhist monks try to reach through hours of meditation and years of training. You can achieve this in a matter of minutes just by lying back into the silky warm sea of bliss that is the floatation experience! Don't be misled by the word 'salt': there is big difference between the salt you season your food and the Epson Salt. In fact, they're totally different mineral compounds. Epsom salt is a mineral compound of magnesium and MgSO4 sulphate. It was first discovered in England in the 17th century during a drought. A local cowherd had stopped with his cattle on Epsom common at a pool of water that the cows were refusing to drink from. The water had mostly evaporated, leaving behind a salt that was extremely bitter in taste. Epsom became a popular destination with visitors with a range of health conditions swigging pints of Epsomite dissolved in water. Scientists eventually found Epsom salt to have a whole range of health benefits. Thanks to the main ingredient, magnesium, it reduces inflammation, flashes out toxins, improve skin, reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes, improves the use of oxygen in cells, reduces the risk of vascular diseases, has a positive effect on the immune system, joint pain and muscle cramps and regulates the action of over 300 enzymes. In turn, sulphates facilitate the cellular absorption of nutrients, stimulate the digestive functions of the pancreas, help detoxify the body and alleviate headaches and migraines. Studies have shown that magnesium and sulphate are easily absorbed through the skin, so an Epsom salt bath is the perfect way to enrich your body with these two ingredients.

❗️❗️❗️We are thrilled to announce that we will be adding a new service to Blissful Float Spa 🎉❗️❗️❗️

I’ll admit I'm a bit selfish—I only introduce services that I genuinely love using myself 😊. Since trying Dry-Hydrotherapy, I can't stop thinking about how much I need it whenever I experience back pain or sore thighs. While the massage chair is great, it doesn't target the front of my thighs, making the Dry-Hydrotherapy bed the perfect complement!

I can't wait to experience it again at Blissful Float Spa, as it feels so great! If you've ever enjoyed water jets in a pool or whirlpool bath, you know the sensation—this is similar, but you stay dry and fully clothed.

The water jets in the Dry-Hydrotherapy bed are covered with a waterproof membrane, so you won’t get wet at all. You can relax comfortably on your back or front while travelling water jets contour to your body to deliver a powerful, deep tissue massage.

I found it stronger than our massage chair, but there is no risk of discomfort on your bones or connective tissue. There are no plastic rollers, only water that contours to your body, penetrating deep into the soft tissues.

We will be installing a TheraJet Dry-Hydrotherapy in the mid-September.

Stay tuned for more updates about this fantastic new addition!

Because your brain and body don't need to use the energy to deal with gravity and sensory input while floating, it allows them to focus on healing and regeneration instead. Just 1 hour in the tank ( regardless of whether you sleep) can be as restorative as 4 hours of sleep. It's especially beneficial when you're feeling drained and traditional rest doesn’t seem to help.

But the healing isn't limited to your body! Since our brains typically use about 90% of their resources to handle gravity and what we see and hear, taking just one hour to disconnect can provide a much-needed reset.

A persistent sense of exhaustion may also stem from prolonged periods in fight-or-flight mode. When we remain in this heightened state for too long without seeing a way out, we can slip into a freeze response, leading to feelings of depression, fatigue, and a desire to do nothing but sleep. The good news is that floating can help alleviate this! It effectively balances your brainwaves, deactivates the fight-or-flight response, reduces cortisol levels, and boosts endorphin production. As a result, floaters often emerge from the tank with a more positive mindset, hope, and motivation than when they entered.

Floating offers tremendous benefits to parents who don't have a break from demands of their children and the lively chaos of the full household.

When you float, your brain produces lower wave patterns, specifically Theta waves, which are normally experienced during deep meditation. Your brain switches off 'fight or flight' mode and switches on the parasympathetic nervous system, known as 'rest and digest' mode. Cortisol and adrenalin levels get reduced, while endorphins increase. The more you float, the stronger your parasympathetic nervous system gets, and which helps you to stay calm in nervous situations.

Regular float sessions essentially regulate your nervous system and train the ‘endorphin muscle’, rewiring the brain to secrete endorphins more frequently, causing a more consistent state of happiness and relaxation, and sustained levels of positive energy.

Moreover, floatation can be a game-changer for your learning, and here’s why you should consider incorporating it into your routine:

1. Superlearning phenomenon: Did you know that Navy Seals use floatation tanks for super fast learning of new languages? Some schools and universities also use them as a tool of "superlearning," increasing the mind's powers of comprehension, retention, and original thinking. We use 90% of our brain power to deal with the gravity and sensory input. Imagine how much brain power is free to use when the sensory input and gravity is removed from the floatation tank, plus your "fight or flight" which often restics your ability of logical thinking, is switched off while you are relaxing in a float tank.
2. Enhanced Focus: During a float session, your brain enters a state of deep relaxation, which can boost creativity and improve concentration. This means that when you return to your revision, you’ll be more focused and ready to absorb information.
3. Improved Sleep: Quality sleep is crucial for memory retention and cognitive function. Floatation therapy can help regulate your sleep patterns, ensuring you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle your studies.
4. Mindfulness and Clarity: Floatation therapy encourages mindfulness, which can help you stay present and reduce distractions. This mental clarity can enhance your ability to retain information and solve problems effectively during exams.
5. Fun: Let’s face it—studying can get monotonous. Floatation therapy is a unique experience that allows you to take a break from traditional studying methods, making your preparation more enjoyable.

Incorporating floatation therapy into your schiol routine can help you perform better academically. So, why not give it a try? You might just find it’s the secret ingredient to your success!

A lot of people ask me why I always wear white. So this is why. 🤣 Sometimes, I'm tempted to wear in black for a change, but then my trousers look like this 🙈 I splash a lot of water with Epsom Salt while cleaning the tanks 🙈 Don't worry if you come with dark clothes for a float. Epsom Salt is easily washed off. It just looks like this before washing 🤣 and it's very unlikely that you will spalsh as much float water on your clothes as I do 🤣

Blissful Float Spa has made it to the finals of the UK Small Business Awards, in the category: Female Entrepreneur of the Year! 🎉

I feel very grateful to be recognised on a national level for the work I do, and I'm proud to represent Kingston Upon Thames!

I had a pick at other finalists, and I must say I feel extremely privileged to be among so incredible, remarkable, and inspiring women! I'm very grateful for this achievement, regardless of what happens next!

This recognition fuels my passion and determination to share floatation therapy within the Kingston community. It’s been a challenging year for me, building something from the ground up while still working as a childminder and caring for my three children. There have been numerous obstacles and setbacks. There have been also some scepticism towards floatation therapy, which made this business challenging to grow. However, it’s heartening to see its growing recognition for its remarkable mental health benefits and pain relief. Witnessing our clients leave feeling so much better after their floats inspires me the most to keep pushing forward.
