From Glenys Horton.

Hello. I would just like to put a comment on the page. My old flatmate, friend, and work colleague, Sister Jill Tomlinson, died at the weekend. She was a sister in Annexe Theatre at Wordsley and at Russell's Hall Hospital. She was aged 65 and was 2 weeks short of getting her State Pension. May you rest in eternal peace, Jill.

Another great photo sent by Peter George taken of A block from the Clock Tower. Peter would climb the clock tower twice a week to manually wind up the clock. The instructions that Peter rigidly followed are attached.
The clock was restored by the original
clock makers family into full working order when the Clock Tower was converted into apartments.
Photo of the clock tower sent by Sue Garden, thank you both so much for these. Greatly appreciated.

This is the Guardians Board Room which is the earliest remaining structure on the site and the last building associated with the workhouse.
It was built in 1883-1884 and was erected for the Board of Guardians of the workhouse, designed by Smalman Smith. It has now been tastefully converted into apartments.
The names Guardians and Smalman in relation to the history of the site, now have streets named after them.

Thankyou to everyone who has contributed and we now have plenty of history to be going through.

We are still looking for any strange or spooky experiences from people who have worked or lived on the site as these are on the next list of items to be working with to be able to tie any experiences up with maybe former history of the site.

We have had about twenty unexplained experiences so far but would like and need a lot more if you are willing to share them with us.

Please forward these onto us via the send message button on the page and if any of your friends/family are not on the page who could maybe offer us anything then again let us know.

Many thanks

We’re now commencing the task of putting all the information together. Many thanks to Sue Garden and Peter George for providing more photos and information.

If there’s anyone with anything further to add we’ll need this within the next two to three weeks if possible. So If you can spread the word and share the page that would be perfect.

We’re looking for anything history wise or strange occurrences on the site(s) if possible.

Please ask around and obviously everyone who has contributed will be credited and cited as relevant.

Also those who have provided anything which we will need to explore more will be contacted in the near future.

Many thanks, once again.

Morning everyone, I’m still collecting information, and to be honest the offers of photos etc and information is phenomenal. I am extremely grateful to all who have helped me bring this together. I would never have envisaged that what started as a small piece of research has grown so much.
Thankyou to Sue Garden for this photo showing the demolition of one of the buildings on the hospital site.
