ADHD symptoms worsen during perimenopause. Oestrogen levels change affecting dopamine and serotonin.
This impacts on coping with day to day activities.
I’ve been identifying women through menopause consultations who could have an undiagnosed ADHD or Autism. I explained about menopause and together we discuss getting an official assessment via your GP or private services.
If you have ADHD or members of your family do and you’re struggling with your menopause, why not get in touch.

Have you been told you’re too young?
How young is too young?
The peri-menopause is the time when you can have regular periods but you start to develop symptoms. Your regular periods then can be become irregular and your cycle can get shorter then get longer. But your symptoms are there…
Peri is a Latin word meaning “around”. Perimenopause is “around the ending of your menstrual cycle”. It most commonly starts in your 40’s and can last 4,5,6,7 years until you’ve gone 12 months without a period. After this time, your now post menopausal. The symptoms are different for everyone but I know, the earlier you start HRT the better!
If you’ve asked your GP surgery for HRT and have been told your too young, have noticed your symptoms aren’t going away or would like to know if Testosterone is the missing link, why not get in touch?
As a menopause nurse specialist I help women all over the UK. I listen, prescribe all hormones and help you for as long as you want my guidance. If you’d like to talk about perimenopausal symptoms or anything about your menopausal journey, please get in touch. Enquiries@bourne2care.co.uk
