🧐 HARD TRUTH 🧐
You don't want an induction? You don't have to have one.
There are times induction can be useful. Actual medical issues that it can solve. But 90% (more, even?) of inductions offered are not for medical reasons, they are offered for 'risk factors' and often before those risk factors have even developed... Inductions are offered to prevent a so-called risk factor arising. Note, a risk factor is not a problem in itself.
A client I supported was offered an induction because she had a low BMI... which MAY cause a baby to be smaller. A small baby isn't a problem, just a 'risk factor'. Her baby wasn't smaller, at birth or in any measurements in pregnancy; this 'risk factor' hadn't even developed.
A big part of the prep I do with my doula clients is to help them understand what they’re likely to see and hear within NHS maternity services and explore how they might feel about it. DM to connect.
