Storm Goretti done. Thankfully we weren’t hit as badly as expected.
As always in the bad weather a few thank yous from us:
First and foremost to our staff who go above and beyond on the daily and even more so in times of stormy weather ensuring that everyone has their needs met.
To our clients and their families for helping us and checking in your messages don’t go unnoticed.
To A.W Hughes for the loan of a 4x4 again to work alongside our 4x4.
To our drivers for giving up your day to make sure our staff reach everywhere safely.
To our local farmers who were out with snow ploughs clearing roads.
And lastly to the gritting teams working all night which made life much easier this morning.

Living and working in a rural community isn’t always easy but when we all work together it truly is the best place to be.

Well for the first time in our history we were ready for the storm… no 5am walks across town needed… then this storm laughed in our faces and said I’ll prove you wrong! Our 4x4 is out tonight but has already come across an accident and cars stranded. Please do NOT travel if you do not have to! You are safer at home.
Families of service users we are trying our best to get to everyone but we are obviously being delayed in all directions! We are phoning everyone as fast as we can to keep them updated.

Please please do not travel unless truly necessary!

Good afternoon,
Firstly I’d like to thank everyone for supporting us this morning when Kington turned itself into one massive ice rink.
Next we turn our attention towards the weather warnings for the next few days. Staff will be informing clients at upcoming calls that we may be late if/when the weather hits us. As always we have contingency plans in place and 4x4s on standby ready to go.
If you are visiting your family in th next 24 hours please help us help them by reminding them that we could be running late and ensuring that we have easy access to flasks etc in case of power cuts.
We will keep everyone updated through social media & phone.

As this year draws to a close we would like to take this time to wish all of a service users and their families a very Merry Christmas and a happy New year.
To those missing someone from the table this Christmas we send you an email extra hug.

Good evening all.
It’s been brought to our attention that there has been some very concerning incidents that have happened in Kington where young girls/women have been made to feel very uncomfortable by a male wearing a purple care style uniform. It is very well known that as a company we wear purple. But we would like to reassure everyone that the male in question is not an employee of ours. In recent months there have been a few care companies who are working in the Kington area that have starting wearing a purple uniform.
We have informed the local authority of the post on Facebook including the description of the male and the car, so they are aware and can work with the agencies who work in our area to resolve this matter quickly.
We are shocked and saddened that if this person is working in the care field that they bring our profession into disrepute, because as carers we are in a position of trust and this individual is making people question this.

We have this advice for anyone who experiences this:
Phone 101 providing a clear description of the individual and if possible a number plate of the car they are driving. We understand that in the heat of the moment you may not be thinking about this but this will assist police to track the car
If you feel in immediate danger then phone 999 and get to a public place of safety. Whether this be one of the pubs or shops in town.

Also our staff are distinguishable by the logo that they wear on their uniforms of two hands holding a bluebell. They all also carry ID. If you are in a situation where the above has happened to you and you see one of our staff then they will more than happily get you to a place of safety even if that means taking you home. Please just ask and if you are not sure ask to see their Bluebelles ID.

Hopefully this matter will be resolved quickly and everyone will be able to feel safe on the streets again.

We are currently looking to recruit either one full time member of staff or two part time members of staff. Hours to include evenings and every other weekend.

You must be reliable and able to work alone and as part of a team.

A big thank you to A.W.Hughes & Son Independent Family Funeral Directors for lending us their 4x4 to work alongside ours today. We really do appreciate it. Working together is what keeps our little community ticking over.
