I can't put into words how grateful I am to be sharing yoga practices... thank you to everyone sharing the space, energy and time.

With teaching comes a continuous gentle inner guide that asks me to be curious about what I'm sharing, spend time studying, asks me to make time for my own healing and aches whether physical or emotional, and encourages me to drop judgement. It's very much continous learning for us facilitators too and it's such an open space that everyone clming creates so thank you!

We have the lovely and passionate visiting soon which we can't wait for. 🩷

Weekly from the 29th of October.

Usually the first response from men about a yoga class is 'I can't touch my toes' so let's get that out the way... It genuinely doesn't matter. 🙌

I've worked with many bodies stuck in tension and pain, changes and shifts are possible with consistency. One of the things I'm passionate about as a teacher is making people comfortable to fully relax so they can get the best from their body and mind. We use props and specific techniques to reconnect areas of the body that are disconnected, in the long term this can improve how you move on a daily basis and in sporting endevours.

What we'll cover in class.

1. Connecting to the fascia and breath of the body.

2. Building anatomy knowledge and awareness of habitual patterns through mental or physical stress.

3. Build towards more flexibility of certain muscles and areas, build strength around joints.

It will support sports, physically demanding jobs and your noggin.

A follow on from the SCAPULA post. Your shoulder blades can get a good wiggle on.

It can be helpful to think of the body as a chain of events.

Everything is connected & so tightness in the lower back or side bending muscles impacts how the jolly ol' scapula will move.

For example if the serratus anterior (see last slide for a visual) is habitually engaged & tight it can mean the scapula is protracting with upwards rotation, making elevation (straight up movement of blades) difficult & likely cause pain over time.

There's a lot more going on in these movements than I've outlined here, this post is simply a starting point to guide.

Classes & workshops are open to all levels.

It's about connecting to your body & breath while sharing supportive space.

A beautiful bone.

This video shows some of the movements it can make.

✨️ Range of motion with this bone can be affected by injury, reptitive movements, tension from sport, tension from posture or habitual stress responses.

✨️ As time goes on we can build the awareness of how this bone moves in relationship to muscles, fascia and our understanding of what it's supposed to be doing for specific movements. Keep in mind sometimes the 'supposed to be doing' just isn't helpful for our body at that time. It's a dance of listening to what feels appropriate for you & moving in a direction rather than end result.

✨️ One thing that's been a game changer for me with movement is the idea of glide & slide. Instead of stretching sometimes the notion of glide and slide encourages fuller breathing and allowing the bones to suspend in the fascia rather than squeezing or pushing it to be a certain way.

✨️ It can be beneficial to visualise the movement of the scapula on the back of the ribcage! Video on asana to help with this coming later in the week 🙌
