Help the NHS to reduce medicines waste – ‘together we can make a difference’
The local NHS is running a campaign urging patients to make simple changes to help reduce medicines waste - which is estimated to cost the NHS nationally around £300m each year.

People are being encouraged to check how much prescription medication they have at home before ordering more and checking the expiry date on their medicines. They can also get advice from their GP or pharmacist around prescription medicines.

From September, local people can join a local Digital Café for free support and advice on using the NHS App around ordering their prescription medication – for details on times and locations of these Digital Cafés in Bucks, Oxon and Berks West see link in this post. For further tips and advice visit the StayWellBOB website which includes six short videos on how to reduce medicine waste.

The campaign being run by Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB) and is running until the end of 2025 and will include regular messages for the public and patients around keeping medicines stored safely and how to dispose of unused medicines properly.

We will be holding our main Flu and autumn Covid booster vaccination clinics at Thorngrove school, Highclere, on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th October.
We plan to start inviting eligible patients to book their vaccinations towards the end of September. Invitations will be sent out in batches over a number of days so please do not worry if you have not been contacted by the 1st of October. We anticipate that all eligible patients will have received their invitation by Mon 6th October.
Where the Practice holds a mobile telephone number for you, your invitation will contain a link to allow you to book your appointment without the need to telephone the Practice. If you have received your invitation from the Practice and you find that you are unable to book your appointment via the booking link, then you can of course telephone your surgery to book your appointment. Our telephones will be very busy over this period so please do not call to book your vaccination appointment until you have been invited to do so.
Patients that do not have a mobile telephone number held on our records will be sent a letter inviting them to contact the surgery to book their vaccinations.
We will be holding additional clinics at both surgeries to accommodate patients that are unable to attend the sessions on the 11th and 12th October. However, the dates, times and locations of these additional clinics will not be known until after the mass weekend vaccination sessions have taken place. Invitations will be sent out to eligible patients that did not attend the clinics on the 11th and 12th October.
Our clinicians will visit Housebound and Care Home residents to provide flu and Covid vaccinations where appropriate.
