The GMC has updated their Good Medical Practice. The emphasis is on behaviours between colleagues and patients which are civil, fair, inclusive and compassionate. We at DDN have used our lived experience and that of the doctors we have supported to influence how the review is delivered.

Disability is diverse however so please contribute here to share you views.https://www.gmc-uk.org/ethical-guidance/good-medical-practice-review

If you would like to contribute but the options don’t suit your needs please get in touch via a direct message.

Good medical practice is our core guidance for doctors. We’re exploring what changes we need to make to the guidance, to make sure it’s fit for future practice.

03/12/2021

On this International Day of Disability We pledge to compel Medicine to become more inclusive. Disability brings diversity, problem solving skills & compassion when it’s needed most. We are an asset not something to be feared or embarrassed about.

Feeling sad but confident handing over the lead baton of the DDN to Jen Warren. I’ll still be here hiding in the background. It’s been a ball.

Please take a few minutes to watch it if you can. Lockdown is providing a valuable insight into the lives of those of us with chronic illness and disabilities and it’s a lesson that everyone should try to learn.

DWP is researching how services supporting the journey of accessing and completing a DS1500 for special rules claims affects practitioners, patients and other individuals involved in this process.

Therefore, we are currently looking to conduct research with healthcare professional, including those with disabilities to ensure that our service is accessible to all. You don’t need to know much about the process we want to understand more about your role, and your experience with digital services.

We are currently looking to get some feedback and have provided a survey link below. In the link, you can sign up to take part in further research to help test and develop the service in detail.

In this episode we are continuing our "How I'm Coping" series but with a bit of a different twist. I've brought together two podcast listeners who expressed a different perspective on how they are coping with the pandemic. Both of them come to their current coping abilities through previous "practic...

To all pathologists, your Royal College are looking for members to participate in a diversity advisory group.

They’ll be needing someone with experience of disabilities...just saying.

“We're looking for volunteers to bring their expertise and experiences to a new Advisory Group. Help make recommendations on how to encourage and enable more people of all identities and from all backgrounds to become involved in the College: https://t.co/Lq5RNSNQY1”
