If you’ve visited Kirkburton Eyewear, chances are you’ve been greeted by the lovely Josette — our friendly receptionist and optical dispenser!

Josette has worked in optics for over 20 years, so you’re definitely in safe hands when it comes to choosing the perfect pair of specs. She absolutely loves helping people and her easy-going, friendly nature makes everyone feel comfortable and cared for. She really takes the time to understand what suits you best!

When she’s not at work, Josette enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She’s recently become a very proud grandma after her daughter Eleanor welcomed a baby boy — how lovely is that? 🍼💙

At home, Josette loves nothing more than walks with her pug, Milo (who she affectionately calls her “fur son” 🐾) and unwinding with a good crime documentary.

Say hello to Zunara, one of the friendly faces behind your eye care! She’s been passionate about optometry since she was just 15 years old — and still gets that same buzz when helping patients see the world more clearly. 💙

Zunara is known for her warm smile, easy-going nature, and ability to make even the most nervous patients feel relaxed in the chair. She genuinely loves connecting with people — whether it’s chatting about contact lenses, kids or the best local coffee spots. ☕

Outside of work, Zunara is a proud mum of two lively young children 👦👦 who keep her on her toes! When she’s not in “mum mode,” you’ll probably find her in the gym 💪 trying to sneak in a quick workout or spending quality time with friends and family.

👁️ Flashes & Floaters – Know the Risks!

Have you noticed flashes of light or new floating spots in your vision? While these can be harmless and part of the natural ageing process, sudden changes can sometimes indicate a more serious problem, such as a retinal tear or detachment.

👓 What are floaters?
Tiny specks, dots or cobweb-like shapes drifting across your vision – caused by small clumps of gel inside your eye.

⚡ What are flashes?
Brief sparks or streaks of light – often linked to the vitreous gel pulling on the retina.

🚨 Why it matters:
Although flashes and floaters are often normal, sudden onset or a rapid increase can be a warning sign that needs urgent attention.
