Protected Learning Time for Primary Care (PLT) - dates for your diary 📅
PLT in the NHS is a scheduled, recurring initiative where GP practices close, usually for an afternoon monthly or quarterly, to allow staff to undergo training, professional development, and team-based learning. This initiative aims to enhance patient care quality, update staff on clinical advancements, and improve team collaboration.
We will be closed on the following afternoons from 1pm for staff training:
Wednesday 13th May 2026
Wednesday 10th June 2026
Thursday 9th July 2026
Wednesday 16th September 2026
Thursday 15th October 2026
Wednesday 11th November 2026
Please note these dates may change at short notice, they will be advertised on our website, in the surgery and here on our page.

Type 2 diabetes
Get with the programme 💪

Type 2 diabetes is one of the biggest healthcare challenges of our time. However, it can be prevented or
delayed, through improved quality of diet, increase in physical activity and successful weight loss.

The free Healthier You programme provides guidance on these topics, and is currently being offered over
telephone, group video conference, or online through apps and websites.

Eligible participants can sign themselves up to the programme online – as well as being referred by
a healthcare professional. Expanded access to the programme follows recent analysis that those living
with diabetes face a significantly higher risk of dying with Covid-19.

The first thing they need to do is find out if they are at risk of developing the disease by using the Diabetes UK risk tool. They can do this by searching ‘Know Your Risk’. https://riskscore.diabetes.org.uk/

If identified as moderate or high risk, they will be invited to sign up to their local Healthier You service.
