On this day last year one of my elderly patients (83) fell whilst shopping and broke her hip.
Whilst on her way to the hospital and during the examinations she used her Homeopathic first aid kit, taking the remedies Rescue me and Arnica at frequent intervals.
A few hours after her surgery I provided her with remedies to support her emotionally and with surgery, bone healing, scar tissue, infection and pain relief. This patient was able to manage her pain with minimal use of strong pain killers taken only in the first few days, and just paracetamol after that.
Doctors and nursing staff were amazed at how quick recovery was and how fast the scar tissue healed, within 24 hours this patient was out of bed and trying to walk. Within 2 weeks she was able to go home and went from strength to strength. After 2 months this patient was able to go upstairs to bed.
So where is this patient one years on??
This patient has a very small scar, in fact if you didn't know about the operation you probably wouldn't even know it was there. She is now able to walk some distance without the support of a walking stick or rollator although she prefers to use them for support and can even manage to walk up the stairs using both legs to step up rather than just one. She can often be found enjoying her freedom, spending time with her family and friends.
This patient and her family believe that without the support of Homeopathy she wouldn't have healed as quickly as she did, which meant she was able to weight bear and walk so quickly, ensuring her return to full movement.
Homeopathy doesn't have to replace modern medicine especially in an accident or emergency situation such as a broken hip, but it can be used safely alongside.
Homeopathy works at its best when it is given as close to the event as possible, which is why I recommend carrying a homeopathic first aid kit in your handbag and or car and having a kit at home. Without her first aid kit this patient wouldn't have been as calm or begun the healing of the trauma for 24 hours after her fall.
