We would proudly like to present our new business partnership.
As you are aware we are in partnership with the health and fitness team for Dunfermline athletic football club offering Podiatry care and rehab to the 1st team working alongside the pars staff.

Today the deal has been done to offer the same treatments to top amateur football club Balgonie scotia football club.
All the staff at Footmonkey podiatry welcome the players and management team to our friendly family of practitioners.

We have one more deal in the making, I personally am hoping this next one comes off as it will be the pinnacle of my career and professional life. More to follow.

Although we look after a pro football team I’m not a follower of the sport as my regulars know. My lifetime knowledge on the game is from watching Ted lasso. As I tell everyone my sport is a man’s sport! Yup Ice Hockey, 52 years since I watched my first match at Murryfield and years of following the NHL I’m back to following the local team play in the kingdom.
Sports injuries are my thing but sometimes it’s not all about feet, well to be fair it is often foot related, always looking for new leads and outlets for our services.
Tonight i took a chance chat with Max Birbraer, General manager and Gareth Chalmers Chief commercial officer of the Fife Flyers. Went well so watch this space.

Dermatomes make so much more sense when you bend over !

The dermatome is a fundamental concept in human anatomy and of major importance in clinical practice. There are significant variations in current dermatome maps in standard anatomy texts.

A dermatome is an area of skin that is mainly supplied by a single spinal nerve. There are 8 cervical nerves (C1 being an exception with no dermatome), 12 thoracic nerves, 5 lumbar nerves and 5 sacral nerves. Each of these nerves relays sensation (including pain) from a particular region of skin to the brain.

A dermatome also refers to the part of an embryonic somite.

Along the thorax and abdomen the dermatomes are like a stack of discs forming a human, each supplied by a different spinal nerve. Along the arms and the legs, the pattern is different: the dermatomes run longitudinally along the limbs. Although the general pattern is similar in all people, the precise areas of innervation are as unique to an individual as fingerprints.

Sometimes in the rehab clinic it doesn’t go to plan and takes us a little longer to get the perfect outcome, everyone is different but we aim to give you the best treatments with honest outcomes. If you have to wait a short time to get seen it’s because we won’t sacrifice time and patient comfort over short term quick fixes, when we fix your problems in the rehab clinic we expect, in the nicest way possible, we don’t see you again unless you return for a new problem.

Meanwhile for General podiatry……. We do hope to see you on a regular basis so we can keep you comfortable and keep an eye on your general health, skin conditions and diabetes.

Demand for Registered Podiatry services nationwide has increased by nearly 20 per cent in the past 3 years.
The recent New Statesman article below explains changes in recent demand and supply for Podiatric Specialists.

HCPC registered Podiatrists are the most qualified but we are less than only 20,000 Professionals nationally we are doing a mammoth job keeping the UK Feet mobile and well. So please be patient with your local providers and take time to plan and prepare your Podiatry visits.

It can be one of the most demanding and rewarding of Healthcare roles. It’s not glamorous. But I am privileged to have served Kirkcaldy for a decade.

Fife has a population of 330,000 people and we are joined by just 56 podiatrists private and our hard working colleagues in the NHS to cover all those feet.

We are generally full so it may take a short time to fit you in with one of us, you now may not see your favourite foot professional at Footmonkey but we always try to meet your needs and choice.
