FAKE vs REAL CRYSTALS 🔍✨
Let’s talk about three of the most commonly faked stones on the market — and how to spot the difference 👇
💎 QUARTZ (especially clear quartz)
REAL: Cool to the touch, natural inclusions, slightly imperfect clarity
FAKE: Often just glass — too clear / perfect, has air bubbles
✔️ A real quartz point will scratch glass
…but glass won’t scratch quartz
(Mohs hardness: Quartz = 7, Glass ≈ 5.5)
🌿 MALACHITE
REAL: Rich multiple green tones with uneven, flowing band patterns
FAKE: Printed or plastic-looking with overly perfect, repetitive stripes
🚩 Red Flag: If the pattern repeats or looks too perfect…
it’s likely fake. Authentic malachite is heavy, cold to the touch, and opaque, while fakes are often lightweight plastic, clay, or resin
🪐 MOLDAVITE
REAL: Irregular shape, olive-green, with rough texture and natural pitting
FAKE: Smooth, glassy, bright green — basically melted bottle glass
👀 Look Close:
Real moldavite has natural texture + inclusions
Fake = smooth and uniform
⚠️ Truth is, not all “fake” crystals are completely fake — some are dyed, heat-treated, or mislabelled. But knowing what you’re buying protects your energy and your wallet!
✨ Tip: If it looks too perfect (or too cheap), it probably is fake
