Green February posts she said. 28 days of medicinal plants she said.
Yes I did and today I'm posting something red, that's strictly not a plant - although it does grow on trees.
Its a mushroom. Definitely medicinal, in fact one of the best medicines as far as I'm concerned.
This is red reishi, a super hero of the mushroom world.
Reishi, like many other medicinal mushrooms is a rich natural source of immune enhancing beta glucans. It works on both TH1 and TH2 immune pathways - normalising immune responses.
In other words helping you stay resilient to viruses and less allergic at the same time.
Bringing immune responses back to a centred place rather than being at either end of the immune spectrum.
I love reishi and take some in supplement form every day to optimise my immune system. It's anti-inflammatory, is said to increase longevity, reduces blood pressure and encourages good sleep. Sounds PDG to me.
In clinic Reishi finds its way into prescriptions where we are dealing with high histamine, autoimmune inflammation, malignancy and immune deficit. All of these things far too common nowadays and a big part of a Medical Herbalists case load.
You can also buy Reishi over-the-counter here at Health Food and More. And during the spring and summer we sell lots of it for hay-fever as it works well without any side effects. Using it regularly seems to reset the allergic tendency so after a couple of seasons of reishi use the hay-fever appears much reduced overall.
If you suffer allergies or histamine related problems dig around and do some research into red reishi. Might be the remedy for you.
Meantime for me it's part of a daily regime which also contains cordyceps mushroom too. To stay tip top and fighting fit for a long long time I hope.
Stay well
