There have been changes to aesthetic practice in Scotland 2025 and there is more to come in 2026.
ℹ️This year the NMC guidelines were changed in line with the GMC, GDC and GPC - meaning all aesthetic consultations MUST be done FACE TO FACE or the nurse/doctor/dentist/pharmacist prescribing would not be covered by insurance.
ℹ️ Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) have updated their regulations and any PRESCRIBER must only see and prescribe for aesthetic patients in a HIS REGISTERED CLINIC.
Therefore if you have not seen a prescriber before botox or fillers, and/or not in a HIS clinic - your practitioner is working outside national guidelines.
ℹ️ In 2026, the Scottish Government will bring in new laws to govern all aesthetics in Scotland. Treatments are split into groups, with group 2 only allowed in a HIS clinic and group 3 only being allowed by medical practioners.
This means that ALL BOTOX and FILLERS will need to be done in a HIS clinic with SUPERVISION of non-medical aesthetic practioners (e.g. beauticuans) by a MEDICAL PRACTITIONER.
All of the above will make aesthetic regulations clearer and make aesthetics in Scotland safer ✅️
