It’s been one of the hottest weekends we have had in a while ☀️

I’ve come on social media to see posts from some numpties masquerading as Health & Fitness professional encouraging the non use of sun cream 🤯

Apparently, you don’t need it.

The natural way is best 🙄

Feeding their own narratives.

These are the same people that demand you stop eating processed food as it’s a class 1 carcinogen.

Well, so is solar radiation pal 😂

I’ve said all along, the dose makes the poison ☠️

Short periods in the sun may not require sun cream but if you are out for a length of time, don’t be a walloper and cover up.

Same as a piece of ham every so often won’t bring the grim reaper to your door 💀

Don’t listen to the nonsense.

For the last few months I have been attempting a return to football.

Thanks to , Raith Rovers 35s and for letting me play ⚽️

I’ve had roughly 15 years away from competitive football so it’s been a quick reintroduction.

However, I haven’t felt this fit in a long time.

The training I had been doing in the gym was not based around a sport like football (likely the reason why I tore my hamstring after 2 weeks back 🙈).

Point being, if you don’t want to gym it all the time, don’t.

There’s different ways you can improve fitness.

I’m back playing football and my wife has joined a running club.

Be mindful of the little eyes that are watching and set a good example.

It’s easy to be active when you are wanting to be.

When you are focused and motivated.

It’s not so easy when you are not ‘feeling it’.

I’d argue this is when you need it most.

The feeling of accomplishment you’ll get once it’s done.

It’s very likely your mood will be improved.

I’d be confident to say that the time spent being active is better than the alternative.

You won’t always be motivated but it’s the determination and consistency that will get you where you want to be.

If you are looking to start a new fitness regime but not sure where to start - pay attention.

Here’s a few things to consider.

1️⃣ How many days do you have to put aside for a workout? Think long term and if you realistically, e.g. you only have time to commit to 2 days, so don’t force yourself to do 5.

2️⃣ Keep it simple. Full body workouts work just fine. No need to train like a bodybuilder.

3️⃣ Focus on habits. Turn up, get a sweat going, repeat. Don’t get bogged down on instant results. Give yourself a pat on the back for just being there.

4️⃣ Make subtle changes with your diet. Most likely this will happen naturally due to you being more aware. No need to drastically change what you eat - again think long term, can you sustain the changes?

5️⃣ Try different workouts and do what you ENJOY! It may be group ex, online workouts, gym, CrossFit - whatever it is, do it because you want to.

Last but not least…

6️⃣ Commit to you. Commit to the time put aside for your own physical and mental health.
