The RSHP CAN (Community Action Network) are holding their second session following the successful relaunch back in March.

If you have an interest in RSHP (Relationships, Sexual Health & Parenthood education) and support children and young people in Tayside around growing up, healthy relationships or sexual health then this may be of interest.

Our second session will be held on the 11th June at Gardyne Campus and will build on ideas and discussions voiced at our relaunch event. Come along and find out how you/your organisation can get involved.

Living well with HIV also means looking after your heart health.

New guidance from the British HIV Association recommends that everyone living with HIV aged 40 and over should consider taking a statin to help reduce the risk of heart disease, even if cholesterol levels are normal.

The guidance follows results from the REPRIEVE study, which found that a daily statin reduced the risk of serious cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks and strokes, by 35% in people living with HIV.

As people living with HIV are at a higher risk of cardiovascular disease, these conversations are an important part of staying healthy and ageing well.

If you have questions about statins or this new guidance, speak to your HIV healthcare team about what is right for you.

Testing saves lives.

Regular testing for HIV and hepatitis can help people get treatment and support early – especially for those who may be at increased risk.

There should never be shame in accessing healthcare or harm reduction services.

This European Testing Week, let’s normalise testing and reduce stigma together.

19/05/2026

🌍 This week is Spring European Testing Week (ETW), which aims to increase testing for HIV, viral hepatitis, and STIs.

Earlier and easier access to testing helps reduce late diagnosis, lowers the risk of onward transmission, and prevents the most harmful impacts of these infections - leading to healthier lives.

Free at-home STI, HIV, and syphilis testing is available via our website sexualhealthtayside.org/appointments

If you have symptoms or are concerned about hepatitis, please call us Monday–Friday, 9am–12pm on 01382 425 542.

What can you do this week?
🙌 If you think you may be at risk of HIV, hepatitis, or an STI, get tested.
🙌 Encourage others who may be at risk to get tested.
🙌 Reflect on how you talk about HIV, hepatitis, and STIs—could you be unintentionally stigmatising friends or family?

🩺💜👏 Exciting news following Mental Health Awareness Week, a major new research into women’s mental health has been announced and is taking place in Dundee.

Dr Katy Mitchell from Dundee Community Mental Health Team East has been awarded a highly competitive NHS Research Scotland and Chief Scientist Office Fellowship to lead research into Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and mental health.

PMDD is a severe condition linked to the menstrual cycle which can cause serious emotional and psychological symptoms including anxiety, depression, mood swings and emotional distress.

The three-year fellowship aims to improve understanding, identification and treatment of PMDD, while helping shape future services and support for women across Scotland.

A fantastic achievement for Dr Katy Mitchell and NHS Tayside.
